We’re Children Of The Covenant

Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed (Acts 3:25).

One Bible character that’s been very popular and important through the ages is Abraham. What made him so relevant in God’s scheme of things? It’s the covenant God made with him. Abraham was God’s covenant friend. Now, I know there’re Christians who say they have a covenant with God. No, you don’t have any covenant with God. Abraham had a covenant with God, but we’re not in that covenant. Who are we?

We’re the seed of Abraham: “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26-29).

As Abraham’s seed, we’re the children of the covenant that God had with him. This is really amazing! Let me illustrate further. Imagine a husband and his wife in a marriage covenant. Would their child or children be part of their covenant? Absolutely not! Their child would be the product of the covenant.

Books have been written about our covenant with God, but really, we’re not in covenant with God. The danger of this misleading teaching is that while praying and trying to get results on the basis that you’re in covenant with God, you’re merely trying to get what you already have. And you’ll never get it that way. There’re things people pray and struggle for that shouldn’t be, if only they knew who they are, and their positioning in Christ. We’re children of the covenant!

Almost all teachings in Christianity is muddled up without a general consensus. Anybody can wake up and cook up a new set of interpretation. It's more reason many open minded Christians consider atheism or agnosticism as an alternative. I always wonder why we always have to argue and argue without agreement on the so called word of God. Word of God, i suppose should be definite, crystal clear without room for confusion and misconstructions but opposite is always the case, giving you a ground to doubt the exclusive divine authorship of the bible

Bro, Spiritual things cannot be interpreted carnally. It takes Spiritual understanding to interpret the word of God. God's words are dynamic and can be applicable to diverse situations depending on the leading of the Holy Spirit. A Spirit-led man can never be confused by the word of God.

How does this Change the fact that everyone is coming up with his own spiritual interpretation of this so called word of God?

Well everyone appears to be coming out with their own version of spiritual understanding. Which one do we accept?

First, you must know that there's just one Spirit of God. As I earlier stated, the word of. God is dynamic and applicable to diverse situations depending on the Spirit's leading. The problem with many of us is that we tend to interpret God's word with human reasoning and logic. Secondly, you do not need to follow man's interpretation of God's word. God Himself must interpret His words to you. Many Christians are still living in the realm of "my pastor said", "my bishop said".....The ultimate question should be "what is God saying?". Everyone of us needs to genuinely know God and have a continuous walk with Him. That is the only way His words can really be understood and correctly interpreted by us. Pls check Deut. 29:29

10000000% PERFECTLY CORRECT!!!!

We are the DIVIDEND of the abrahamic covenant RENEWED by the ALREADY DONE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST.

I am not FREELY justified so that I can be in a covenant, even when I don't have what it take to keep God in a covenant. RATHER, I am freely called to FREELY be part of the dividends of the abrahamic covenant and ENJOY THE MOST OF IT!

Stay in grace alone!

Read your Bible... We'd soon so come to the unity of faith

Ephesians 4:13
3 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

That's why we teach... If you didn't know, be humble and learn. Check the scriptures I'd these be true... Stop whining.

Meanwhile, don't derail. Do you have a covenant with God? If yes... Which? And when?

Thanks

We are children of Abrahams covenant. But that covenant is the covenant replaced by a new, better covenant. The covenant of Christ.

When we say we are in covenant with God now, it's in reference to Christ's covenant. Christ is the sacrificial offering in that covenant between us and God. In the first one, between Abraham and God, the promises differ abit. They are forward looking and set the stage for the new covenant.

God made a convenant with abraham. And the beneficiaries of the covenant he had with abraham was made CONDITIONAL to the people of Israelites via LAW. Remember law came after abraham. You can ask more on that, so I can explain more.

It was made conditionally, in the sense that YOU MUST HAVE to keep ALL THE LAWS(10 commandments with 600+ ordinances) before you now EARN it by merit. So, when you couldn't keep all the laws(even if you kept all but one), YOU ARE UNDER THE CURSE OF THE LAW.

So, because ALL couldn't keep it, ALL was under the curse of the law which is death. And because all were under the curse which is death, WE ALL DESERVE DEATH.

Now, because of God's love EVEN in our position of sinful flesh, he created an incarnate son of himself which is Jesus who came and offered himself as a ransom to bear the whole life curses of the whole eternal world because of our inability to keep God's law.

So, when jesus came, he saw how wicked we were. And even in that our wicked state, he took our curses and gave us his life and it is called HYPER-GRACE.

So, by his death we are now PERFECTLY PERFECT in him through the faith of christ to FREELY enjoy the beneficiaries of the abrahamic covenant WITHOUT CURSE. If he took it, you can never have it.

To bring us into fellowship with the Father. Salvation was a means to an end, not Jesus main purpose for coming

God entered a covenant with Abraham... Not with you or any Christian, you, rather are a child of that covenant since you're Christ's, that now makes you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 3 v29 kjv
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

What promise?

Jesus' blood was shed for the new testament, the new covenant, to replace Moses'. It doesn't imply in any way that you entered a covenant with God.

Am glad we agree that there is a new covenant that Christ's blood was shed for, and he is the sacrificial lamb of that covenant.

I am part of the covenant by acknowledgement. Belief in Christ. That whosoever believes in Him shall not perish...

The seal is the Spirit of God.

For the question about the promise of Abrahams covenant. We do agree we are children of that covenant.

Galatians 3 v29 kjv
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We should start with what was promised to Abraham when he cut a covenant with God...

Ex 15:8 And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; t thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Grammar, sweet talks
Who Grammer epp?
Let the wicked depart from his evil ways and the unrighteous his wickedness
Let the man who maltreats his wife desist from that
Let the man of god, who inspires youths to steal from their employers to pay seeds repent
Let the young man/lady who was told that once he/she could learn to speak in tongues that she is now born again who cannot sin even though she goes on with matur. bat. ion and 4nication behold the truth and repent
Let the youth who made himself available as an agent of fake gospel merchandise and extortion of the gullible repent
Let him who takes gate fee and tickets for gospel events repent
Let him who teaches youth that it doesn't matter what you do now but as long as you continue coming to church, paying tithes and seed that one day you will be in heaven, repent

Let him who engages in all businesses (Airline, radio/tv stations, music studios, shares in blue chip coy and real estate) desist from claims of being a Levite who must collect tithes from the house of Isreal

That is the Salvation that most youths and their taskmaster men of god will not want to hear

Ruminate on this.

CHRIST IS THE SEED OF ABRAHAM.

Christ is the offering of the Covenant. But Christ by becoming man was also standing as a man, a firstborn of the generation that he negotiated for.

He is the offering, and the high priest too... You remember the role of the High priest in the Laws of Moses, It is he who went into the holiest place once a year to pray for the people.

Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

Christ, as the high priest has "mediated" a better covenant for us..

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

For Him to mediate, he was talking on behalf of men, as the firstborn. And a beneficiary of the terms he negotiated; One of those benefits he got is reconciliation of men to Himself...

Collosians 1: 21"..., yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death (the blood covenant), to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

So Christ, together with the men he died for, is a beneficiary of the mediated terms of the new covenant. He will inherit the kingdoms, with the saint.

And there are promises in the covenant too.

- Inheritance of the land(this time, not just from the Euphrates to the sea like Abraham, but the entire earth). And a sit over the principalities.

- inheritance of the people (reconciliation of men to Christ).

Christ is the seed of Abraham. ..

Which means he inherited after Abraham. But you will agree with me too that Abraham's blessings could only be manifested physically until Christ who opened the door into spiritual worship and spiritual gifts. Abraham's blessings are perfected in Christ's covenant.

Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

Christ was directly a descendant, a seed of Abraham, to whom God said, he would give the land of Canaanites, and that his descendants would be as the sand. Physicallly/in reality, the house of Abraham has expanded beyond the middle East.

Christ is carrying forth by the power of the same covenant, and used it's strength to negotiate a better, spiritual inheritance that is different from the first one which excluded most of us as gentiles. And which was regal and imperfect. We could not inherit of Abraham as gentiles.

I think your issue is the Word COVENANT. Did Jesus enter a covenant with God on our behalf? Don't forget ... Moses' law was replaced by Jesus' sacrifice... Moses' law was within Abraham, for Abraham begat Isaac who begat Israel- this same Abraham had the covenant with God.

You didn't just typed that.
shocked shocked
Inherited what from Abraham? shocked

God said to Abraham "in thee shall all the nations of the earth be blessed" He was talking about the seed, which is Christ. What then was the promise? I ask again... What did Jesus inherit after Abraham ?

But you will agree with me too that Abraham's blessings could only be manifested physically until Christ who opened the door into spiritual worship and spiritual gifts. Abraham's blessings are perfected in Christ's covenant.

You're not getting it... Christ replaced Moses' testament... With a better covenant. Does that mean Jesus had a covenant with God?

Sir... Read your Bible. It's a spiritual term. That's why salvation and the promise could get to the Gentiles... Through the better covenant Jesus brought to light. It has nothing to do with the physical.

Christ is carrying forth by the power of the same covenant, and used it's strength to negotiate a better, spiritual inheritance that is different from the first one which excluded most of us as gentiles.

Negotiate with who?

And which was regal and imperfect. We could not inherit of Abraham as gentiles

Have you ever signed an agreement? First you negotiate the terms, then the contract is sealed.

Negotiate with who?

I ask again... Did God have a covenant with Jesus?

Bro, Spiritual things cannot be interpreted carnally. It takes Spiritual understanding to interpret the word of God. God's words are dynamic and can be applicable to diverse situations depending on the leading of the Holy Spirit.
A Spirit-led man can never be confused by the word of God.
If the bold text is true, it contradicts the possibility of God's word being a universal truth.

Let us assume I go to India, 1+1=2. In China the same thing, in Nigeria the same. So 1+1=2 is a universal truth. It is not dynamic. But once a hypothesis is dynamic, it is not universally applicable.

In that case, Panku, Bahma, Zeus, Yahweh, Baal, etc are all true Gods and equally correct since it is dynamic to person or place. But can they all be true

Do u know how improbable genetically for Abraham to be ur father? undecided

An omniscient being choose Abraham as a covenant and later found out he was not good enough

In case u did not noticed, u just mocked ur God's intelligence.

Really? undecided

A covenant is an agreement that involves oath taking. Abraham is the person that with God, made a covenant. He was NOT the covenant.

The covenant was for his inheritance of Canaanites, which is why Michael descended on Jericho and all related Canaan cities with a blood bath. So Abraham's covenant is spent. Especially with Christ coming. He brokered a new covenant. New promises for the saints, and an inheritance of the principalities of all the earth. It's also open to more people, including rebellious ones like you. wink It's better, will be bloody very soon. grin

I hope I was clear enough.
