<=> Another Interesting Conversation ~ On PORNOGRAPHY <=> On that fateful morning, climate and environment were still cooperative, an About-to-Wed Couple came in for counselling [the guy, a Masters Degree holder, based abroad; and the lady, a BSc holder... Still serving as a Corper}, we discussed on a lot of issues concerning the processes/preparations for a Christian Wedding and on living out of Marital live. At the end of our Marriage discussions, somehow, another issue cropped up, ON PORNOGRAPHY = They informed me that they were lately involved in a fierce debate in the midst of a group, on the nature and on the use of Pornography, thus, they wanted to get an expert opinion from me. I then enquired from them about their individual standpoints on the issue: (In summary) the young man told me that he believes that Pornography is useful, both for entertainment and for relaxations, that actually, he sees nothing wrong with it. The young lady on her part honestly opined that Pornography is useful for entertainment, for getting a sort of relief and for learning of sexual skills which one could find useful in marriage. I ACTUALLY HID MY EMBARRASSMENT AND SURPRISE ... Because, I still needed to do my work as a Father and as a Counsellor. [I was honestly surprised at the glorification of Pornography Industry in our present generation] ... But I always know that, PORNOGRAPHY IS A BEAUTIFUL LOOKING AND ENTERPRISING VENOMOUS SERPENT; CONSTRICTING AND VENOMOUS! The outlook is sweet and entertaining, but short and long-term effects are both enslaving and devastating. I actually told the Couple those few things, but then remembered that the book of The Catechism Of The Catholic Church responded beautifully well to these issues, I brought out my copy, opened up the section on the use of Pornography and the involvements in Pornography, and read out thus to them as they listen intensely: [CCC 2354] "PORNOGRAPHY CONSISTS IN REMOVING REAL OR SIMULATED SEXUAL ACTS FROM THE INTIMACY OF THE PARTNERS, IN ORDER TO DISPLAY THEM DELIBERATELY TO THIRD PARTIES. IT OFFENDS AGAINST CHASTITY BECAUSE IT PERVERTS THE CONJUGAL ACT, THE INTIMATE GIVING OF SPOUSES TO EACH OTHER. IT DOES GRAVE INJURY TO THE DIGNITY OF ITS PARTICIPANTS (ACTORS, VENDORS, THE PUBLIC), SINCE EACH ONE BECOMES AN OBJECT OF BASE PLEASURE AND ILLICIT PROFIT FOR OTHERS. IT IMMERSES ALL WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THE ILLUSION OF A FANTASY WORLD. IT IS A GRAVE OFFENSE. CIVIL AUTHORITIES SHOULD PREVENT THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIALS". ~ ~ As an addition, or rather a further elucidation, I reminded the couple that the Christian Church classified Pornography on the level of the OFFENCES AGAINST CHASTITY, alongside Lust, Masturbation, Fornication, Prostitution, Rape, and Homosexuality. Finally, on a more personal opinion and counsel, I informed the young couple on other realities of Pornographic Experiences: [1] Whether on a magazine, whether on the phone, whether on the Internet, whether on a DVD, even in a cinema or at a Clubhouse .... There's something inherently wrong and base about Pornography. [2] Pornography enslaves ... It's clearly addictive. [3] Pornography is an offense against your own individual integrity. [4] Pornography is a crime against humanity and the integrity of the human person. [5] Pornography often leads to other sexual perversions, especially Masturbation. [6] Pornography is often a secret affair because it is inherently evil. [7] You don't need to do Pornography before you learn how to satisfy your partner sexually in Marriage. [8] Your online Pornographic involvements are duly recorded in the Internet accounts... Fact! [9] Pornography is one of those things you get involved in, but you can never be proud it eternally. [10] Pornography is an illusion ... Entirely deceptive. [11] I know some persons who are yet to recover from the longterm damages of Pornography .... Because, It distorts and damages both the Psyche and the Spirit. [12] PORNOGRAPHY REPROGRAMMES YOU TO BEGIN TO SEE ANOTHER HUMAN PERSON AS A SEXUAL OBJECT, FOR USE! [13] Involvement in Pornography is a clear symptom of a deep-seated Psychological Crises!!! ~ ~ After, the sober discussions and counsellings, the About-to-Wed Couple looked at each other, and looking at me their Priest, saying "FATHER, I THINK WE NEED TO REORIENT, BUT MORE .... WE NEED CONFESSIONS RIGHT NOW"!¡
