For a house filled with Honourables, their conduct has been nothing short of dishonourable. Last year, when this House was first inaugurated, there was hope that the caliber of members and their new leaders would set a new trail. That the mistakes of the past would be corrected and that hope and indeed change has come. While this piece might appear to be scathing, it is written on the sole purpose to address the issue of honor and truth and these attributes have so far been lacking from the House of Assembly. From the very first day the House commenced business, it has witnessed various issues ranging from a fight for the leadership, a missing budget, sex scandal and now budget padding.

Let us make no mistakes about the gravity of each of these issues. These issues portray a confused and corrupt entity, and from an institution that is meant to produce laws, to serve an oversight over the excesses of the Executive arm of government and most importantly represent each and every individual from all nooks and cranny of the country. I must say that our Honourables have brought shame to us. Their actions and countenance appears to mirror the very worst in us to the outside world and in this digital age, shame appears to not be a word in their dictionary.



The Speaker has been most affected by the budget padding controversy and his reactions so far has brought criticism from most well meaning Nigerians. Claiming that budget padding is not a crime is laughable. Alright, let’s assume that since he is charged with creating laws, and budget padding is not a crime “yet”, defending his alleged involvement is a slap on the face of all citizens of this country. An alleged non crime with intent to commit crime is totally unacceptable and we would expect that a high ranking official of the legislative arm of governance would find it difficult to defend what is “undefendable”, albeit the Speaker himself. 2019 is just around the corner for us to correct certain mistakes, till then let’s hope our Honourables will start doing the honourable thing most especially Mr. Speaker who can take a cue from David Cameron.

More annoying is the angst and callousness of the speaker,Dogara.Since the epic revealation of massive fraud in the 2016 Budget by the ferocious ex-chair of the appropriatoon comittee in the Nigeria's House of Reps,Abdulmumin Jibrin.
The lame excuses from the accused so far clearly portrayed the mindset of an average Nigerian.
Their arrogance is appalling,or else how can one explain the morals of sticking to their positions infact,it is,againts the principle of equity for them to remain in thier positions,they ought to have long vacated their various positions as remaining there is in itself an act of illegality

More ridiculous is the efforts by some individuals to twist facts by whatever means to sway support for Seaker Dogara while demonising the whistle-blower,Jibrin.
To have defied all odds and intimidation to speak out againts these corrupt and shameful practices,Hon.Jibrin deserves our support and commendation,as Nigerians,we should rise and lend our voices to call for a the resignation of the culprits and thorough investigation.Anything short of this,then the Federal Government's anti-corruption fight is a charade.
