However, I am not undermining the achievement of our football team. They had a phenomenal achievement which has to be recognized.
Yes, we failed in many other events. No fault of the athletes. Especially track and field where we used to win medals in the past

Not many, we failed in all, i might only single out Aruna quadri for securing a quarter final berth before losing to the world's currently most ranked table tennis player.

Meeeen, the thing was a flop!

I was almost moved to tears when I saw our athletes BEGGING for money on Twitter after the Sports Ministry neglected them.

I was completely embarrassed when I heard about the hand our athletes were dealt in Atlanta (ref: Hotel payments and being stranded with no flight).

The last straw was when I watched them at the opening ceremony with TRACKSUITS because somebody failed at his responsibilities.

It was at that point that I realized the Sports Ministry did NOT deserve any victories, and I prayed the Nigerian athletes would DEFECT to countries that would appreciate and treat them better.
I will keep saying it: Incompetence should NOT be rewarded.

Well, that's water under the bridge.

PS: Did you know that 15 Nigerians featured for other countries this year, and that 11 out of those 15 athletes won medals for their respective countries?

Damn.
