Lightning “new”: Ford may revive old name for electric pickup

Previously it was assumed that the American company uses this name for another “charged” version of the model, but now it has become known about an alternative version.

Sales of the fourteenth-generation Ford F-series pickup truck started in the United States at the end of 2020. In the first two months of this year, dealers have sold almost 120 thousand copies on the home market. Recall that over the past few years this model has remained among the most popular in the States: in 2020, dealers managed to sell 787,422 pickups, which is 12.2% less than a year earlier (the decline can be explained as the expectation of the release of the new F-series and the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic). In the future, Ford plans to expand the audience of the model due to the electric version.

The production of the “battery” modification of the pickup, which has so far been conventionally called the Ford F-150 EV, will be launched in mid-2022. The cars are planned to be produced at the company’s plant in Dearborn (Michigan). Traction accumulators intended for “green” trucks will also roll off the conveyor here.

Budget three-row crossover: Honda revealed the BR-V

So far, the novelty has debuted in the status of a concept, the serial version of the budget SUV is expected towards the end of the year.

Honda unveiled the current three-row BR-V crossover in 2016. This car is based on the Mobilio van – a seven-seater MPV, which has been in the brand’s lineup since 2014 (in 2017, it underwent restyling). The model belongs to the budget segment. According to a report from the local Honda division, last year BR-V sales fell by 63% (only 2,289 units were sold). Such a noticeable decline cannot be explained only by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, it is probably also that customers are waiting for a successor to the model.

And it, apparently, will not keep you waiting. At the moment, Honda held an online presentation of the N7X concept (stands for “New 7-Seater eXcitement”, which means “new seven-seat excitement” and the highlighted “X” probably hints at an SUV). This show car is already very close to its serial incarnation. It is assumed that the company will show a commercial version towards the end of this year.

Aston Martin begins development of two supercars based on the Vanquish and Valhalla concepts

The head of the British brand spoke about plans for the coming years: the manufacturer, of course, will not escape the emphasis on electric vehicles.

The Aston Martin brand, which produces mostly expensive sports cars, definitely cannot be called mainstream (although the brand did a “little step” in this direction with its first DBX crossover). At the end of 2020, dealers in Europe sold 1,638 vehicles, which is 36.8% less than a year earlier. The decline can be explained, among other things, by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Note that sales of DBX began in August last year, in total, from the start until the end of March 2021, dealers have sold 519 copies. According to the British publication Autocar, who was interviewed by the head of Aston Martin Tobias Moers (previously at the head of Mercedes-AMG), two supercars with a mid-engined layout are already in the development stage. The “engineering projects” for them will be the Vanquish Vision concept and the Valhalla prototype (both show cars were presented in 2019).

Porsche lights up the new Macan: crossover will debut next year

The German brand has announced the next generation SUV design. The model will receive an upgraded platform from the Taycan.

Porsche introduced the Macan compact crossover to the market in 2014, and the model underwent restyling in 2018. At the beginning of last year, the German manufacturer announced that the new generation SUV will become fully electric, but not all brand fans took this news with a bang.
