Good day all. I need your advice on the type of ceiling board or sheet to use. I am currently on a building project(a small bungalow). I know there are basically two types of ceiling sheet. The first one is like plastic, usually long and has different colours(I don't know the name) and the other is the conventional ceiling board which is like wood. I need to know which one is more durable and better. Thanks |

Use P.O.P Plaster of Paris as someone said up there, it's fire resistance. And brings added aesthetic to your interior design 1 Like |

Good ole wooden or ceramic roofing sheet. Steer clear of rubber chief. Go for the wooden type, or go for the one like tiles. |

My dear brother, POP Is the best option for u, it last longer and also will beautify ur home to Ur Very own taste..... The conventional asbestos ceiling is cheaper than PVC, while POP is the costliest of the three categories. It all depends on your budget. Recently, I did a 4-bedroom flat in my village, the POP that would have cost me N480,000, eventually cost N510,000 because of inflation rate in the country. The POP Specialists charge the fees by square metre. Like in my case, the agreement was N2,500 per square metre but I ended with N3,500 before the completion of the work. If you are the one that will buy the materials, then you can negotiate N700 per square metre as labour. Best of luck!! 5 Likes |

Vincent I can't believe a young man in this 21st century could be so ignorant. Pls no-one uses that old ceiling board anymore. U either do pop ceiling, or the long one that u mentioned which is actually called Pvc, or u do what we call suspended ceiling. On no condition should u try using asbestos ceiling which is d normal one u earlier referred to.that's old school. For the parlour use pop. But make sure the roof isn't leaking. For the rooms use pvc. For the kitchen use asbestos which is d one u are use to. The quality of the various products vary so please ensure u buy the best. Good luck 4 Likes 1 Share |

Leaking roof is a problem. Pvc transmits sound. Ceiling boards do not. I prefer ceiling boards 6 Likes |

blesdman: You are so right about pvc and sound. I once slept over in a house with pvc ceiling and then it started to rain. Omg!!! I thought it was a major major rainstorm with the roof about to crash. I opened the window expecting to see torrential rainfall with everywhere flooded. Lo and behold, it was mere drops/tickles of rain. I couldn't sleep the entire night because of the sound from the pvc ceiling. I know abestos is dangerous but if it was down to cost, I will go with "undisturbed" abestos anyday anytime over pvc ceiling. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
