Enyimba captain, Chinedu Udoji, has expressed
confidence that the team would return to the CAF
Champions League at the end of the season.
The Nigerian champions ended their campaign in
the group stages of the 2016 CAF Champions
League with a 3-1 defeat of Mamelodi Sundowns in
Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Udoji told our correspondent during the week that
the club have shifted their focus to the Federation
Cup and the Premier League after their ouster
from the tournament.
He said, “It’s very unfortunate that we didn’t go
far in this season’s Champions League but I think
we have learnt a lot and it will help us in our
quest to return to the continent at the end of this
season.
“Our attention is now on the league which we still
want to defend since we have some outstanding
matches left. If we focus well on those matches
and we get wins in them, the gap between us and
the top-of-the-table teams will not be too much.
We are also looking at winning the Federation Cup
too.
“We want to return to the continent immediately
and prove to our fans that we can win the
Champions League for a third time.”
Enyimba are 10th in the league with 45 points
from 28 matches. They are eight points adrift of
leaders Wikki Tourists who have played 30
matches and have 53 points.
The Peoples Elephant will play Akwa United on
Saturday in Port Harcourt. They have two matches
in hand after the Akwa game.

Enyimba my club. I doubt if Enyimba will make it to next season champions league. they are very far from finishing in top two. Truly, my lovely Okezie Ipkeazu did not try at all as his govt could not finish the stadium on time to enable aba boys to cheer the peoples elephant up
