STOP PEDDLING LIES, OSOGBO WARN EDE CHEIFS

The attention of Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG) has been drawn to a malicious press statement from the Federal Council of Ede Descendants Union which was signed by one Mr. Moshod Adeleke, the statement which dwelled so much on alleging the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of deliberately favouring Osogbo over naming of government establishments/properties in the areas that fall within the capital city territory boundary with Ede.

The latest antic of the Ede people to cause chaos in the State of Osun was their wrong allegation leveled against the Osun State Capital Territory Development Authority. The Ede people wrongly alleged the governor of Osun State as anti Ede for giving directive to address government establishments as Osogbo.

We would have treated the press statement as unworthy of reaction, except for the unsuspecting members of the public who may fall for such sugarcoated statement, intended to mislead the public by the Federal Council of Ede Descendants Union. The Ede people, as represented by the union, in a sudden twist chose to hide under Capital City Territory to frivolously claim ownership of Okepupa, which by deception Ede people referred to as Abere.
Whereas Oshogbo became a capital city in1991, their (Ede people) lust to claim a larger part of Osogboland has been on since 1879 during the colonial era with each of their attempts ending in a brazen ignominy and defeat.

History, records and facts have it on good authority and could be made available to the general public that Oshogbo is the rightful, legal, genuine and authentic owner of the land housing Osun State Secretariat, Nigeria Custom Service covering Oranmiyan New town up to the Nigeria Police Zone X1.

If the Ede community need to be schooled on the length and breadth and workings of the Capital City Development Authority, we would not hesitate to teach them.
Should the state government give out instructions that the Osun Odua Farmers’ Academy, Aisu-Ede, NYSC permanent Orientation Camp, Aisu-Ede, etc that fall within the Capital City Territory be named or addressed as Osogbo, then they can raise alarm if they so desire.

We like to state clearly that the press statement lacked in its entirety any substance that demands attention, hence, it is inconsequential, baseless and does not have any sense of direction but just a distortion of facts, vendetta and a calculated attempt to further rape the state government into supporting their long lost battle to claim a substantial part of Osogboland.

For avoidance of doubt, we challenge Mr. Moshod Adeleke or any other person from the entire Ede community to be man enough to list the government establishments they claim are within the Capital City territory named after Osogbo that rightfully belong to Ede.

We equally like to appeal to the entire Ede community to be courageous enough to tell the whole world the outcome of their attempts in various courts of competent jurisdictions on the rightful and authentic owner of the land mass housing the State of Osun Government Secretariat, Nigeria Custom Service, Oranmiyan New Town, Osogbo up to The Nigerian Police Zone X1.
We also wish to call on the good people of Osun State and the Nigerian Media to ask the people of Ede why their claim of ownership of the said areas of land is always devoid of lawful evidences despite their numerous efforts in the court of law and tribunals.

It is bizarre and horrendously distasteful that the Edes' continue to rely on fabricated cock and bull stories that do not have a place in the sacred history of the Oduduwa's race to claim ownership. More embarrassing is the fact that the Edes' in their self adulation continue to think that in a 21st century Nigeria, “Might is right”.
Each time they address the press, instead of them to come out with incontrovertible facts of ownership, they keep threatening with war songs as if they own the monopoly of violence.

In the press statement by the Federal Council of Ede Descendants Union, Mr. Adeleke and indeed the Ede people goofed by claiming that the popular Oloro stream near Ataoja School of Science is the boundary between Osogbo and Ede, while they were correct that Elesin stream is our common boundary, they erred by notoriously claiming that ("Odo Olooro"wink Oloro stream which is the stream close to Ataoja School of Science is the same as Elesin stream.

Over and over again, it has been established by different courts and tribunals that ("odo elesiin"wink Elesin stream is close to the fence of Nigeria Police, Zone X1 and it is the authentic and lawful recognized boundary between Osogbo and Ede.
Judgment in 1879 at the presence of the then Baale Ibadan now Olu Ibadan and the District Officer favoured Oshogbo. In 1929, the Asst. District Officer, Osogbo, Oyo Province, R.W. Wilkes at the instance of Ataoja of Osogbo and Timi of Ede, Oba Lagunju, the District Officer affirmed the Elesin stream near where the Nigeria Police Zone X1 now resides as the authentic boundary between Osogbo and Ede. The then Timi agreed and the matter was laid to rest. After the death of Timi Lagunju the Ede decided to start another trouble, prompting the then Ataoja to order the Edefarmers farming in the area now wrongly called Abere to vacate the area, the new Timi as at then, Timi Akangbe later acquiesced to the 1929 agreement which upheld the 1879 boundary resolution. Again, Timi Ipinoye wrote in 1935 an appeal letter begging the then Ataoja to please allow his subjects to continue to farm on the said area of land with a promise that they would be law abiding and pay their dues "Isakole" as at when due to the Ataoja of Osogbo.

It is instructive to note that aside the previous failed attempts by succeeding Timi(s) of Ede to claim part of Osogboland, other attempts were met with stiff resistance and in 1951, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2006 and most recently in 2010 further confirmed Osogbo as the rightful owner of the Osun State Secretariat area up to the Nigeria Police Zone X1 Headquarters.

All evidences, judgments and records affirming the authentication of Osogbo as the legitimate owner is domicile in public archives.

We at Oshogbo Development Action Group(ODAG) are however; taken aback with the series of lies contained in the press statement signed by the vice chairman of Federal Council of Ede Descendants Union. Their claim that the erstwhile governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, gave the Ede community the sum of five hundred thousand naira for the construction of a palace is the most illogical affront the Ede Descendant Union could come up with. We urge the Ede people to tell the whole world the truth on how Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola demolished a miniature erection that was built very close to the State secretariat with a stern warning that the land belongs to Osogbo and that they must not encroach on the land again.
The Ede in-council again in the purported press statement in the most cheaply manner claimed Chief Bisi Akande consulted the Timi of Ede before he commenced the building of the most beautiful State Secretariat in the whole of West Africa in Osogbo. The question is simple, are they saying Ede is the capital of Osun state? Or were they sleeping or deaf when Chief Akande during his last visit to Bola Ige House, repeatedly told guest and the Ede on ground during the re-opening of Bola Ige Secretariat, Osogbo by Rauf Aregbesola that all he knows is that the State Secretariat is rightly cited in Osogbo.
We like to remind them that the State secretariat was cited in the early 90s by Governor Isiaka Adeleke an Ede prominent son and that communiqué signed by Governor Isiaka Adeleke addressing the location of the State secretariat as Gbongan-Ibadan road, Oshogbo is still very much available.

Osun State under Aregbesola has moved on from the salary issue.
In Osun state, it's not about "jeun ko ku". People have found alternative ways of surviving with the one they are getting from their government. So what is your problem? Eyin alatojubo, Salako gbo ti e. Iya n jeyin e tun n jeko.
Which of the states in Nigeria is not having one problem or the other? Why do you all want to die on Osun salary alone?

You must be an ignoramus to be talking the way you just did.

I'll advise you to tune in to ONTV news today (28-8-16) showing osun civil servants carrying placards and lamenting of hunger as a result of Aare-gbese's mis-governance.

They were even singing in Yoruba that Aare-gbese has foisted hunger in them.

Watch ONTV news if you've got a television cos it was shown on their news update this morning.

I am not disputing many states owing salaries but wastage of funds under current economic conditions should be discouraged.
