sikells:

why didn't you start from the beginning.... where the doctor did the diagnosis and wrote out prescriptions... don't u think the doctor did wrong diagnosis?

I clearly said the pharmacist administered it after the doctor prescribed it...

The point I was making was including the pharmacist in the train of what happened.

Definitely a doctor diagnosed....

Logically the fault could have come from any one.....
D doctor d , pharmacist or the nurse....

Doctor; wrong diagnosis

Pharm; giving a drug that purportedly does the same work as the one doctor described.

Nurse; (if drug was administered in hospital over period of days) maybe switching the drugs unknowingly esp if na injection drug...

See how they are all rushing to bash Nigerian doctors. They didn't read the part that said the lad died in a private Turkish hospital. And if it is the one I kn at Life Camp Gear in moa ( Nigerian Turkish Nizamiye Hospital) then I can tell you they don't have Nigerian doctors working there.

Didn't see where Pharmacist was mentioned in DAT writeup. Most Hospitals in a bid to cut costs just engage the services of nurses who barely know about drug interactions to dispense medications and in d process avoidable deaths end up taking lives. Rest in Peace.

Your response is so disgraceful of a health personnel -that's if you are though. Learn to defend yourself and probably your profession better without bringing in another. Guess you read the write-up from 'behind', if not you would have discovered that "NURSES" weren't mentioned either. And point of correction, NURSES are well groomed in pharmacology and often times display better knowledge of it among other members of the health team.

Why bring nurses into it ?

I wont be surprise if its one of these doctors that claim to study abroad. That was how a 300 level student studying electrical electronic engineering in a Turkey university was asking what is the function of coils in an electric motor. Something that a serious ss3 student will know in Nigeria.
Anyway rip to d the dead.

Forget. Since the days when Jesus was on earth, medical personnel have been frustrating peoples lives (see: the woman with the issue of blood).

Personally, i had a knee issue and visited at least 5 different doctors. The first one was a specialist and the most experienced; he did not even bother to examine the knee, he just reeled off some facts and told me i had a developmental problem that would heal by a certain age.

3 years after that age had passed, i was still experiencing trouble, in fact, it was worse. decided to see other doctors but each one would go through the routine of looking at my former x-rays, claiming they were too old, ordering me to take new ones and then declaring that they still couldn't find anything on the new one.

In fact, i remember a doctor who gave me loads of Piroxicam (NSAID), with only a vague warning, without telling what it was, and it's possible side effects.

i would only go to a doctor in the most serious of circumstances.
Sorry about your knee sha, but I couldn't help laughing at your example, the woman with the issue of blood. You can't compare a doctor with God, certainly not at that time.
As for your knee, truth is that working in Nigeria is so complicated, every sector included. Abroad, apart from Xrays, you'd have had the benefit of MRIs or CT scans and other high tech investigations. All almost free or at ridiculously cheap cost. I bet you won't come out of that hospital without a good diagnosis and treatment.
Here in Nigeria, an MRI costs 80 thousand naira plus, and a CT about 40thousand. And you have to pay out of pocket. Now how many Nigerians can afford that? Just relate that to your salary and see.

Research shows that people who are always happy to bash medical personnel, even without adequate information, are usually those who have tried unsuccessfully to become medical personnel in the past.

Lies from the pit of hell. Medical personals killed my mother too and a niece of mine. They were too stupid to act fast when the emergency started. They saw my mom reacting to a medication and allowed her to remain in that condition for 1hr before they deemed it fit to do anything. By the time it became very critical and they sent us to buy the Med needed to help her, it was too late. When it all started, I told my sis to call their attention to it as I was not there. They told her that the allergic reaction is the price my mom would pay to get well.

Now you're talking nonsense. Did you know the hospital he was taken to? In case you don't know, the Turkish hospital in Abuja is one of the best hospitals having foreign trained doctors and nurses and also well trained doctors and nurses from Nigeria. A medical doctor made a silly mistake that cost the life of a patient there and you're are here insulting nurses? What do you mean by that? Which nurse does not have pharmacological knowledge be it the one who did bnsc or the one who did diploma? I don't even need to talk to you because it's your type that does not know the difference between a registered nurse and the quacks that are trained by so called doctors who employ them for cheap labour. And I know it's those types you patronized and you're here insulting well trained registered nurses for the mistake of one medical doctor.
you are Right.
God bless Nurses

I think the boy died as a result of his mother's sins. This is due to curses and repercussions. Those in public offices should try as much as they can to do the right thing that wouldn't make curses affect them because the people that die everyday due to their embezzlement also have their eleda. The painful thing is that their families suffers for their sins most times. The boy died of medication from tooth ache at the best hospital in Abuja filled with foreign medical practitioners when the poor masses people like her mother impoverish can't afford to go to hospital especially in this hard time just use 50 naira chewing stick and different local and cheap medications and yet are still alive. Money can not buy life. God gives life,God takes it‎. I just pity the guy. RIP dude. May our parents sins and curses not bounce back on us‎

Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas. You stole money meant to benefit the masses and use it to fund your children's education abroad. Now he's bitten the dust. If you ask me that's what I call "the blood of the innocents, crying and wailing for revenge." Some call it 'Karma'.

Wrong diagnosis/treatment killed Gani Fawehinmi.

Wrong diagnosis/treatment killed my father in law.

Wrong diagnosis/treatment killed Maxwell Etoromi

The prayer for me and my family everyday I wake up is not to have to deal with any ailment that goes beyond drinking paracetamol and God has bn faithful.

When a GP is doing the job of a specialist, what do you get trial/error with confidence.

Nigerian Doctors are the most incompetent in the world.

From personal experience.
peace.
