So, I wanted to purchase something on aloe press last week and since I have a firstbank verve card which is not accepted for international transactions, I proceeded to a firstbank branch at onitsha. When I got there, I went to the customer service personnel and told him exactly what I wanted. He then asked if I had an international passport, I said no. He then told me that it was a requirement for the issuance of MasterCard. That it was a new policy. I tried to reason with him that I just do online shoppings and that, for now, I wanted to buy a 10$ item and that shouldn't be enough reason for me to apply for an international passport. He replied that it was their "new policy". I went to three more branches in onitsha and I was told same thing. Now I want to ask, when has having an international passport become a prerequisite for obtaining a MasterCard? Because I am well aware other banks like GTB don't require for such. It's not even reasonable to apply for an international passport just because of a MasterCard. Hmm. Firstbank is relaxing in their services its high time I changed my bank. Who else has had similar experience in terms of their service?
