Students of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado-Ekiti, have been asked by the authorities to stop the use of smartphones and other smart gadgets within the school compound. This was made known in a new notice released on the 28th of August 2016 via the website of the University.

Fresh and returning undergraduate students for the 2016/2017 Academic session were also briefed on new rules.

It stated:

Mobile Phone ; The University would allow students to use a telephone but limited to non-smartphones. Any TELEPHONE aside the University’s specification, inclusive of TABLETS or IPADS shall be CONFISCATED and the Student shall be SANCTIONED.

How will they ban tablets and smartphone? The world is moving forward, they are going back to the days of clay molding.

If they want to copy Covenant, they should at least allow wifi only tablets. Na dem sabi sha, wetin consign me sef.

Phones are getting smarter but students are getting dumber. What an irony! I honestly support the move by the school. Alternatively, free internet should be provided for the students.
