We all heard about the Nickel discovery in Kaduna recently and the subsequent media attention it attracted.

People became curious about how precious is this Niclel and above all how much is it sold.

Here's some simple analysis with data obtained from infomine.com

According to the site, as at August 26, 2016, a pounce of the element goes for $4.43, and we have 2.205pounce in a Kilogram.

That means a Kilogram will go for approximately $10.

Therefore, a 5okg bag filled with Nickel will be sold at $500 or #157,625.00. And a ton (i.e 1000kg) will go for $10,000.00 or #3,152,500.00.

Further, a ton of the metal was pegged at $9830 as at 30th August, 2016, according to wall street journal on London metal exchange prices. http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/2_3021-londMetal.html

Ironjcally, the paper placed another metal (Tin) at more than $18,000.00 per ton. Meaning that Tin is twice as valuable as Nickel.


Exception, news have it that this newfound Nickel is a pure grade type, this analysis may not apply if that type has a price higher than the ordinary Nickel.

Perhaps the crude oil will have to dry up before FG faces the Nikel.
