ABUJA - A gang of suspected robbers dressed in Army uniforms allegedly attacked an Oando filling station situated along Ahmadu Bello way, Garki II, Abuja. An eye witness told the media the incident happened at about 9:15am when the robbers, numbering seven, drove into the filling station in two Toyota Salon cars. He said they shot a security man twice in the arm as he attempted to close the gates behind them after they entered the station “You know, when they came, they immediately opened fire in the air to disperse people going about their normal businesses around the filling station before embarking on their operation. At first, we thought they were military officers because all of them wore army vests. But as they opened fire in the air and shot the gateman in the arm twice we then realised that it was a robbery attack,” he said. He also said four members of the gang stationed themselves outside with their guns, while the others went into the manager’s office to obtain the keys to a safe where monies realized from the previous sales were kept for deposit into the bank. But the manager escaped when hesighted them through his office window. Eventually, they searched the offices and the staff members on duty and carted away cash estimated to be over three million Naira. The robbers were said to have swapped one of their vehicles with that of a customer who came to purchase fuel before the incident occurred. When contacted the FCT Police Public Relations Officers, PPRO, Mr. Anjuguri Manzah, said reports on the incident have not reached his table but promised to speak on the incident as soon as he receives any relevant information. .
