The Sole Administrator of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Council, Aremo Adewale Abdul, on Wednesday August 31st, graduated 188 trainees of various skill acquisition programme to empower the people of the community.

The Ikosi-Isheri LCDA partnered with the Necessary Measures Against Poverty, (NEMAP) to train members of the community on seven areas of skills which includes, soap and disinfectant production, paint production, Adire production, fabric design, makeup and gele, gift item production and note book production and printing.

The skill training which lasted two weeks had in attendance some beneficiaries which includes a Traditional Chief in person of Chief Jimoh Atanda Onikosi, a Youth Corp member and other members of the community.

Speaking at the event, Aremo Adewale Abdul said the initiative was borne out of the need to bring practical solutions to the socio-economic challenges we are faced with in recent times. He said this is one of the numerous ways by which the government intend to tackle the rate of unemployment and poverty in the locality.

Aremo Abdul said “What our administration intends to achieve with this empowerment skills is to complement the efforts of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration in Lagos in the area of wealth creation.

“Obviously there’s no better time to bring about this change we all desire than now. There is no better time to equip and empower our residents for wealth creation than now! I also want to congratulate all the beneficiaries, for the successful completion of the programme and urge them to see this as an opportunity to add value to the society at large.

One of the beneficiaries of the programme, Osho Anjolaoluwa, who recently completed her secondary school education, said the knowledge acquired from note book production and printing, would give her some financial freedom and support her parents during her tertiary education.
