20 Out Of 21 Anti Aircraft Guns Missing From Nig. Army In North East by papaejima1: 9:10am On Sep 05, 2016

A soldier on the frontline of the fight told The Associated Press that his brigade commander is among officers standing trial at the court-martial in this northeastern city, which is being held in secret. He said the army is investigating what happened to 21 anti-aircraft guns assigned this year to his artillery brigade. He said they only received one gun. The soldier spoke on condition of anonymity because he feared he would lose his job.

This is mind boggling.
These guys are evil!
Under GEJ BH will attack formations and take over abandoned equipment, but under Buhari they are simply handed over to the insurgents.

I don't understand it. Under an army General?

in the post you quoted, it was stated that they were tried.
Under GEJ, were they tried?

Moreover, all forms of corruption including handing over to the insurgents were taking place under GEJ!

Majority of weapons in the hands of boko haram lunatics were directly sourced from the nigerian army.

There is more bokos in the army than there is dirt on the streets of bunjumbora.

Why were they deploying AA guns to fight bokos in the first place who have zero air capabilities?

Whoever ordered the AA guns to be deployed in the first place must be held responsible.

This is confirmation that there are boko sympathisers in th army as these weapons are meant to counter air strikes by the airforce.

And who told you AA guns are only used to attack aircrafts?? Boko Haram is using AA guns to attack our troops and you dont want us to reciprocate?

AA guns have long distance capabilities. And they can be very effective in a desert terrain or even anywhere firepower is required. It can be used to effectively destroy gun-mounted trucks kilometres away.

Its a very important weapon.

I hope you were able to comprehend the statement that those who have responsibility for those weapons are being tried. We were in this country when boko haram took over the weapons cache of a whole brigade during GEJ regime.

All over the world, there are always corrupt officers who will want to play smart by selling military weapons illegally.

The major thing is the existence of system that bring the culprits to book.

Yes, if weapons got missing under him and there was no attempt to bring the corrupt officers to book, we will blame him.

Jonathan has gone for good abeg. And he has moved on with his life. You Jonathan defenders better free yourselves.

It is only on questionable local newspapers that you read news about Nigerian army supposedly 'defeating' Boko Haram under Buhari.
The international media seems to be telling a completely different story, with grim tales of the RAMPANT corruption and hopelessness going on in the army.

APC should understand that propaganda will not defeat Boko Haram.

Nigeria Army Confirms The Pardon, Reinstatement Of 3,032 Convicted Soldiers

Pressed by the need to ensure the urgent conquest of the Boko Haram insurgents, the Nigerian Army has pardoned and reinstated 3,032 out of 5000 soldiers, convicted of various disciplinary offences through series of General Court-Martial (GCM) set up by the immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Kenneth Minimah (rtd).

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman announced the reinstatement thursday during a press conference to inform members of the public of the activities of the Nigerian Army within the period under review.

Usman recalled that the Nigerian Army some time ago instituted a committee to review the recent disciplinary cases in the service especially of those soldiers in the defunct Operation Zaman Lafiya with a view to ensuring discipline, regimentation and justice in the system.

He said: “The Committee has concluded its sitting last week and has made certain recommendations that led to the reinstatement of 3,032 soldiers into the Nigerian Army out of 5,000 cases that were reviewed.

President Muhammadu Buhari had given the Nigerian military a marching order, mid August, to ensure that the Boko Haram terrorists are crushed in three months.

The DAPR however, clarified “that not all the dismissed soldiers were granted pardon and recalled”, adding that “those with criminal cases for instance, have their sentences upheld”.

Speaking further, Usman said that the Nigerian Army and the military in general are working towards meeting the presidential directive during the decoration ceremony of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs with their new badges of rank on August 13, 2015, to end the activities of Boko Haram terrorists in the North Eastern part of our country in 3 months.

Therefore, he said, I want to assure the public that in line with our procedures, we are taking appropriate measures to prevent such happenings and sanction all those involved.
