Full Disclosure, I manage a firm that offers training in Digital Marketing and other Web Technologies. As a firm we have stopped using the traditional media for marketing about 3 years ago. We are on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Our marketing activities is centered around SEO, Digital Advertising and some others

SEO
We show up on page one of Google for keyword related to our business,
'Where to learn Digital Marketing in Nigeria'
'Advanced Excel Training in Nigeria'
'Web Design Training in Nigeria'

PPC
We run advert on Facebook, Twitter, Nairaland, Google AdWords, LinkedIn, Instagram, BBM Channels etc
Unfortunately, except for Nairaland, the other marketing channels we use collect only Dollar. The falling value of Naira against the Dollar was a major concern for us as a business. Our margin was reducing because of the depreciating value of Naira. A campaign that would cost us $100 for about N20,000 at the start of the year now goes for over N40,000. As a result, our advertising cost rose by 100% but our revenue per student was not increasing at same rate.

THE SOLUTIONS
To run our business in a profitable manner we had to be more creative in our advertising. What did we do to stay afloat?
Buyer Personae
We needed to study our prospective client very well to know when they are online and what they do online. Developing an effective buyer persona helped us know when our prospective clients are most likely to be online, the kind of website they will mostly visit, the kind of device they were using etc. These help us to effectively target our prospective client and weed out those that were just clicking our dollar away.
Facebook Retargeting Advert
Using Facebook Retargeting feature, we were able to show our advert to people who have been to our website within the last 30 days, visited some specific pages on our website or perform some specific action on our website while they are on Facebook. This help us to show our advert to people that are really interested in our training
Google AdWords Remarketing Advert
Google AdWords Remarketing is equivalent to Facebook Retargeting on Google AdWords Advertising Space. Since Google AdWords Space is estimated to be over 80% of internet reach, this made Remarketing more awesome.
LinkedIn Decision Makers Targeting Advert

This is impressive, I will like to know the nitty-gritty of this training, this is a cheap way of running advert for your business, rather than wasting money on traditional media (AIT, NTA, Newspaper, Radio) with nothing to show for it.

No doubt that digital marketing is the real deal today, why? Because almost all people rely on the internet, almost all people use social media for communicating, promoting, marketing etc. Businesses doesnt want to be left behind so they also do digital marketing for their business in order to gain more clients or customers.
