Buhari's Subsidy? by almurtadha(m): 7:02pm On Sep 06, 2016
When an administration tries to increase pump price of Petroleum products or removal of subsidies, there are special interventions put in place so that people will benefit directly from.
During Late General Sani Abacha's regime, there was the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF) and we all saw the impact on the country though there were criticisms that it was one-sided.
Also, when former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo increased Pump price of petrol, there was removal of toll gates across the federation.
Furthermore, when former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan came to power, there was the Subsidy Re-Investment Program (SURE-P) with the Purpose‎ to manage Government share of savings from removal of fuel subsidy.
But the programs and initiatives of this administration towards the removal ‎of the subsidy is what I don't understand.
There is no special intervention in effect to the removal of subsidy and increase in pump price.
The interests of the masses seems not to be priority of this Government.
We resists with totality any attempt to increase the pump price and the removal of the subsidy must be justified.
