I work in a hospital at Ijora and since Monday, we have been receiving some cases of acute gastroenteritis at an unprecedented rate. The patients are all adults and dehydrated. Their full blood counts were all increased with moderate neutrophilia. All other findings points towards a bacterial not viral etiology though we lack the facilities to identify the causative organism to the specie level. I deduced that the heavy rainfall caused some water bodies containing sewage to overflow and contaminate sources of water supply. The purpose of this is actually to warn people in that area and maybe other places affected by the flood which could be prone to such disease spreading mechanism to maintain the highest standard of hygiene possible. Boil your water before drinking and make appropriate considerations before patronizing any food vendor. Just be careful
