It's not a magic formula but it's a rational one, that the less you carry the more ease you feel if you have arthritis. The weight loss you will experience will reduce strain on your knees, joints, hips, spinal column, ankles and feet. You will feel lighter if you shed some weight trust me.

2. Apply oil and heat

An eucalyptus ointment can bring some relief. An oil based ointment with eucalyptus oil as an active ingredient can be effective for both arthritis. Apply the ointment around the region you feel either pain or stiffness get a towel and apply some warm water to it, squeeze it so the towel can provide heat-free from water and wrap it around the region. Do this continuously until you feel some ease from the pain.

3. Check your work-rate and pace

Reduce stress on your body by taking it easy. Don't walk too fast, take things one step at a time. Learn to relax and take your mind on the pain.

4. Practice floatation

Studies have shown that floatation can help relief pain induced by arthritis. Specially designed tanks known as sensory deprivation tanks are available that can relieve arthritic pain.

About an hour of soaking in the tank will produce meaningful relief because arthritic pain is flared up by stress and floatation reliefs the body of this stress.

5. Practice Ice therapy

Cold treatments can be used to relief the pain. Apply an ice pack over a stiff or pained area for about 20minutes holding it firm over the area. Repeat the process continuously until the pain subsides.

6. Apply Heat

If you feel uncomfortable with ice, then try heat. Also apply heat when the joint becomes hot and swollen.
Use a towel and warm water and continuously apply heat over the body to get relief.

7. Get off drugs that can become addictive.

Tranquilizers and narcotic pain killers can become very addictive. It puts pressure on your mind to focus on the pain and stay attached to these drugs, free yourself from this abuse and focus on your rehabilitation and this will help you ease off the mental pain.

8. Eat plenty of fish and fish diets

Active ingredient in fish oil, Omega-3 fatty acids that also comes in form of tablet (cod liver oil tablets) should be taken regularly. They help the body alleviate the pain by providing the body with vitamins A and D the body requires. Vitamins A provide the body with anti-inflammatory effects while vitamins D help in promoting bone growth and health. Fish oils provide the body with defense from chemicals that promote arthritic inflammation.

Vitamins A and D can be toxic in very large amounts so limit your cod liver oil tablet in-take to just a tablespoon food a day. It is important to consult with your physician for an appropriate dosage because too much of these vitamins can also cause more problems for the body. Your physician will also provide you with information if you require fish-oil supplements.

Instead of using supplements, low-fat diet that contains fish can be very helpful. Try low fat diet that contains mackerel or salmon.

9. Apply Massage

Massage is a general pain relieving technique that will help you feel better and ease the pain. Apply cold or heat massage on the area you feel discomfort and lay down after the massage, you will wake up feeling better.

While vegetable oils can be very helpful, if you suffer from arthritis you may want to cut down on your vegetable oil in-take. Reduce your in-take of vegetable oils and increase your in-take of fish based oils.

It is important to reduce and withdraw from oil-based foods like salad dressings, fried food and margarine. These food substances are rich in omege-6 fatty acids that you don't need in your condition. These oils contain substances that have been proven by research causes inflammation in arthritis patients.

Try oil processed from olives or rapeseed, Canola oil can also be taken in little quantities. These oils are low in omega-6 fatty acids and while they may be okay for your body, it is important to reduce your oil in-take.
