Comptroller- General of Nigerian Prisons Service, Mr Ahmed Ja'afaru, who is in Akwa Ibom State on a three-day working visit.


The present location of the Uyo Federal Prisons is no longer suitable considering the high traffic of persons who engage in various activities within the vicinity, despite the paucity of funds and non-reimbursement of funds expended on Federal Assets by the Federal Government, the state will strive within the limit of its resources to meet obligations, therefore we are constructing a befitting structure to relocate the Prison to a new complex.

Also, while the Uyo Federal Prison will be expanded to accommodate inmates we are undertaking the rehabilitation of Ikot Abasi Prisons.
