Someone Sued Creator Of Hit Show ‘black-ish’, Over What? by donshegzy: 10:18am On Sep 10, 2016 |
The creator of hit show, Black-ish, Kenya Barris, has been sued by a guy who claims the storyline is based on his life. The lawsuit, according to TMZ was filed by one Bryan Barber who claims he and Kenya were both college buddies in 1996 and that both became writers and both had agents at William Morris. Barber further claimed that he entered into a partnership with Kenya in 2006 and they both came up with a script focusing on the “black experience” … through the eyes of a “successful, creative and affluent black man” working in the mostly white entertainment industry. Barber further claims the script was based on his life experience adding that he parted ways before 2014, when “Black-ish” debuted. Barber is suing Kenya Barris for $1 million and also wants credit as a writer and creator which will subsequently earn him royalties, meaning more money for Barber. www.reporterng.com/2016/09/10/someone-sued-creator-of-hit-show-black-ish-over-what/
