Nasarawa Govt Reverts To Old Salary Structure by Opeedo(m): 11:34am On Sep 10, 2016
The Nasarawa State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its two-month old strike and called on workers to return to their duty posts with immediate effect.

In a press statement jointly signed by the NLC chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adeka and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Danladi Namo, the organised labour in the state said their action was in compliance with the agreement reached between the Unions, Government, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.

It stated that Government has also honoured its part of the agreement by reverting to the old salary structure.

It would be recalled that workers in the state embarked on the industrial action to protest the downward review of their salaries by government as a result of economic downturn.

The statement read in part: “That payment of shortfall of the proposed new salary structure and the old salary structure for the months of May and June, 2016 has commenced with effect from Wednesday, 7th September to Friday, 9th September, 2016.”

The organised labour also stated that the issue of July and August salaries shall be addressed as the negotiations continue.

“All workers are therefore directed to resume work immediately and that there shall be no victimisation of any worker or employee arising from his or her participation in the strike in the state or matters ancillary thereto,” the state read.
