DUTSE—Disturbed by the spate
of reported cases of HIV/AIDS,
the Emir of Dutse, Dr. Nuhu
Muhammad Sunusi, has said,
henceforth, couples living in
his emirate must undergo test
before marriage.
The Emir made the declaration
yesterday in his Sallah, Eid el-
Kabir, message to the people of
his domain, noting that reports
indicated that the menace was
spreading and causing panic
and suspicion among couples.
His words: “As from today, no
couple can be joined together
as husband and wife until they
go for tests and are presented
with medical certificate and
confirmed negative before an
Imam can officiate their
marriage in this emirate.”
Also, Dr. Sunusi commended
security agencies in the state
for their efforts in stopping
kidnapping and other social
vices in Gwaram Local
Government Area and some
parts of the state.
Reports from the state
indicated a downpour had
interrupted Eid el-Kabir prayers
in Jigawa State, as the
congregational prayer was
moved from its initial venue to
the central mosque.
