Good news as Serving Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who want to start business can access a loan of N3 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) without any collateral.

The Acting Director, Corporate Communication of the apex bank, Isaac Okoroafor,
made this known while speaking in an interview with journalists at the sidelines of the CBN Fair in Enugu.

He said under the CBN youth entrepreneurship scheme, the serving corps members and those who have not exceeded five years of post graduation from the scheme, were not required to provide collateral in order to access the loan.

Okoroafor said the issue of collateral has always been a problem among those of them interested in entrepreneurship. Adding that corps member who wants to start business could get as much as N3 million to start as an entrepreneur.

Okoroafor, told Corps members that they are not required to provide any collateral because we discovered that collateral is the problem. That their degree or HND certificate will serve as your collateral because we know it is an asset in which you have made investment. So just surrender it and that is all.

He said the purpose of CBN coming to Enugu, is to meet with young entrepreneurs and to bring to their knowledge what they do in CBN and to explain to them what their policies are, their initiatives and their programmes and how youth entrepreneurs could benefit from the numerous policies, put in place to grow the real sector of the country’s economy.

We also went to Ogbete market Enugu to meet with the people and the market associations and interacted with them.

We explained our purpose to the traders and they showed enthusiasm and a lot of passion.

CBN also sent to media houses to sensitize the people and urged them to attend the fair for the real interaction and exhibition that started on a good footing.

Okoroafor said the MSME development fund which is about 220 billion naira fund for micro small and medium enterprises. Sixty percent of that fund is meant for women and women owned enterprises.

While some states have accessed the fund. Some have collected as much as N1 billion and N2 billion and then they retail to registered cooperative members in those states in bits. Some states elected to pay the interest, which is not more than 9 percent on behalf of the beneficiaries.

We also have the commercial Agric Credit Scheme (CACS) for larger commercial farmers. We are for everybody. One of the greatest highlights this time is the youth entrepreneurship programme and that programme is for corps members who are either in service or have finished service in the last five years.

Hello my people, Follow this link and see the list of businesses I do plus how you can get mentoring www.4romgrasstograce..com
Some of the businesses are started without capital while some need little capital. My personal favourite being "export brokerage" cos it's easier and doesn't need me to travel around the country.
