President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated music legend, King Sunny Ade, on his 70th birthday.

President Buhari's congratulatory message was contained in a statement today by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

He affirmed that the musician had, over the years, brought pride to Nigeria by mastering his art against all odds, taking the African musical genre to the global stage as well as serving as an inspiration and a mentor to upcoming artistes.

President Buhari also acknowledged that the septuagenarian had brought joy to many hearts and homes through his music.

The president commended King Sunny Ade’s love for humanity, especially the less privileged, by setting up a foundation catering for the needs of others.

He joined all friends, family and fans of the multi-talented instrumentalist, songwriter and dancer in celebrating "his remarkable life which has been graced with numerous awards for outstanding performances, including nominations for the Grammy."

President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God grant "the versatile" entertainer longer life, good health and more strength.
