Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane became the 7th man to win the European Champions League both as a player and a manager. The French man lead the Los Blancos to a 5-3 post-match penalty win against City rivals Atletico Madrid at the home Serie A giants AC Milan, the San Siro.

The three time Ballon d’Or winner (FIFA World Player of the Year – 1998, 2000, 2003) won the coveted title in 2001/2002 season as a player and now as a manager in 2015/2016 season.

The 43-year-old won the title in 2014 that time as the assistant manager to former boss Carlo Ancelotti who also happens to be in the list of managers who have achieved the same.

Let us now take a look at other 6 men who make the top 7;

6. Pep Guardiola-Barcelona

Manchester City manager Pep Gurdiola joins the list after wining then Champions League in 1992 as a player and 2009, 2011 as a manager.

In 1992 the Spaniard was the main man in Johan Cruyff team that raised the tile, a man who also happens to be in this list too.

As a manager the former Barcelona manager thrashed Manchester United in 2009 and 2011. The interesting factor is that the Red Devils were under the stewardship of the experienced manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

5. Frank Rijkaard

Frank Rijkaard won the Champions League as a player with AC Milan and Ajax under the stewardship of Arrigo Sacchi and Louis Van Gaal respectively in 1989, 1990 & 1995.

In 2006 he guided Barcelona to European success beating a star-studded Arsenal side to lift the crown as a manager.

Since his Camp Nou departure, his career has taken a U-turn for reasons only him can tell. He is however a celebrated star in Europe.

4. Johan Cruyff

The well known master of tiki taka football does not need any introduction. Johan Cruyff may have passed on this year but his legacy is safe.

The former Dutchman won the Champions League as a player in 1971, 1972, 1973 and then came back to win it again this time as the manager of Barcelona in 1992.

The current system played at the Catalan Club was set up by him including the famous La Masia academy that continues to produce stars like Lionel Messi.

3. Giovanni Trapattoni- AC Milan

The former Republic of Ireland, AC Milan and Juventus manager is the 3rd man in the list. He won the Champions League in 1963 and 1969 as a player at Milan and 1985 as a manager with Juventus.
