My First Experience At A Fast Food In The US by Nobody: 6:19am On Oct 01, 2016 |
This happened about two years ago when I was still JJC, normally I don't eat outside because I brought some naija food with me while coming. And as you know when someone just got here every purchase you will want to convert it back to naira to get the real picture of what you spending So I just thought I should try a sandwich in a popular restaurant. Here is what transpired between myself and the fast food... Me (looking everywhere like a thief ) : Hey, I want a sandwich (I think it would be as simple as that) Seller: (With some nice smiles) What kind of bread Sir? Me Looking surprised) Normal bread. Seller: Is it white bread, Italian, wheat, honey oat... Me: ( still confused) White bread please. Abeg. Seller: OK, is it foot long or six inches. Me: Chai.. I just said foot long (didn't really understand tho) Seller: what kind of meat please Me : Chicken please Seller: What kind of chicken? Roasted chicken, chicken breast, rotisserie chicken? Me: (Looking so confused again) Roasted chicken (even tho I don't know how it taste lol) Seller: what kind of cheese? We have American cheese, pepper jack, shredded, provolone.. Me I was like WTF) American cheese (Na the only one I hear be that lol, feeling relieve that it's over) Seller: Do you want it toasted? Me: I was like nawa oo. I just said yes. After few minutes.. she brought it out of oven. Seller: what kind of vegetables? They have like 10 different kind of vegetables..spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, green pepper and so on... Me: add lettuce, tomatoes and onions ( those are the ones that looks familiar to me) lol After that, I was thinking it's over.. Seller again: What kind of sauce? Mayonnaise, chippotle, spicy muster, honey muster, ranch( she just dey mention dey go oo lol) Me: ( Cut in) Mayonnaise please (Na the only one I sabi be that) Seller: Any drink or chips Me: No thanks Seller: Is it to go or for here Me: To go (Tired already on top say I won chop sandwich) Now the killer part.. Your total is $745 ( Not knowing it was $7.45 but that's how they say it but I didn't know) Me: (Shocked) can you say that again Seller again: Severn forty-five Sir. How do you wanna pay cash or card. Me: Sorry ma'am I don't have such money on me, I didn't know it's that expensive (I felt so ashamed coz people are also on the queue waiting, but no way I'm gonna pay that for just a sandwich lol) Seller: (looking frustrated and a bit angry already) Sir but you saw the prices on the chart when you got in. So I looked at those chart again and saw it should $7.45 Me: Ma'am is that not supposed to be seven dollars and 45cent? Seller: Yes sir, that's exactly what I told you.. Now I saw it on the display..Holly cow!!! Some people are already laughing there. Me: I'm sorry I thought you said $745( she was smiling, so I paid with my card and left the dramatic scene. I was just happy coz many people were not there lol. Chai. Since that day I understand how they call prices here. $5.25 is Five twenty-five. And so on. If anybody has another experience, let's hear about it. There is always a first time in everything. Lalasticlala let's hear from other people also. Happy independence Naija! 6 Likes 5 Shares |
