A struggling Swansea welcome an in-form Liverpool side to the Liberty Stadium this Saturday in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s performances in recent weeks have garnered talks of a possible title tilt and the Reds are coming into this clash fresh off a 5-1 victory over Hull last weekend.
Swansea on the other hand have yet to win this season and are looking to avoid a third defeat in a row.
It’s a big game for…
Francesco Guidolin and Jurgen Klopp.
Two bosses who could not be in more polar opposite situations at their respective clubs.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to continue the momentum currently building on Merseyside with another victory away from home, while Guidolin is on the verge of dismissal at Swansea.
Swansea have their lowest ever points tally after six games in the top-flight and are on the cusp on losing three consecutive league games.
Guidolin has already admitted a defeat could mean his head rolls before the end of the weekend while Klopp is trying to manage expectations at Liverpool by batting away title talk.
Neither men will be happy with a loss, but Guidolin would bite Klopp’s hand off for a draw.
Likely line-up…
The return of Dejan Lovren to the starting line-up should be the only change to an almost nailed on Liverpool eleven.
Daniel Sturridge will most likely continue his stint on the bench with a front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho virtually undroppable at the moment with the amount of goals they have plundered so far.
Divock Origi is an injury concern for the Reds and is set to be assessed before the game.
For Swansea, they could be without defender Federico Fernandez who picked up a minor knock against Manchester City last time out with Nathan Dyer also remaining on the sidelines.
If you memorise one stat…
Liverpool have scored 71 goals under Klopp since his arrival in October and no side has found the net more than the Reds away from home since the start of 2016.
Klopp’s side are level with Tottenham with 26 goals and have already gotten 16 league goals so far this season.
Last time they met…
Swansea may be on a desperate run at the moment, but they embarrassed Liverpool last time they met in May.
A 3-1 win against an inexperienced Liverpool eleven marked down one of the worst days in Klopp’s reign so far.
The now departed Andre Ayew got two goals in a 3-1 win and Swansea will be hoping for more of the same despite facing a significantly stronger Reds side.
From the archives
What a game this was. Only four years ago, but it was a real classic when Liverpool welcomed Swansea to Anfield on February 23.
Liverpool raced into a two goal lead before conceding two in quick succession and the first half wasn’t even over at that stage.
Daniel Sturridge put the Reds 3-2 up before a penalty just after half-time by Wilfried Bony got Swansea back on level terms again.
Jordan Henderson then popped up with his second of the game 15 minutes from time to steal all three points and decide a thrilling encounter.
Metro.co.uk prediction…
Swansea are in a dire situation at the moment while Liverpool seem to be just going from strength to strength.
The playing style of the Swans should allow Liverpool to get at their opponent’s defence and we cannot see anything but a win for the Reds.
And a heavy win at that.
Swansea 1-4 Liverpool
Vote…
Who will win?
