The university graduated from,Imo State University will have it inscribed in our certificate “found worthy in character and learning.” I will want o assume that will be the inscriptions in other universities certified from certicates. This is my opinion but this opinion would have to be reviewed considering the situation that is trending in Ladoke Akintola University. The university as it stands today has been immersed in ownership tussle between Oyo State and Osun State thereby throwing decorum to the winds. As they say”when two elephants in hostilities, the poor grass suffers.” In this case the students suffers and if they eventually graduates ,the quality of education impacted in them will have a question mark on it.

Lately, dirty linens have been washed in public and the world is watching the absurd theatre with the dramatis personae arguing over who owns and who didn’t pay. This degenerated to some urchins using the opportunity to cause mayhem in the citadel of learning. This should be frowned on. The Nigerian University Commission shouldn’t sit back and watch the tertiary institution go down.

According to some sources ,it is said that some Ogbomoso indigenes at the school mobilised some hoodlums, to attack the delegates and some university staff, who are Osun State indigenes. It is reported that Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, had sent a delegation led by the Chairman, Osun State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Mr. Folorunso Bamisayemi, to the university on a fact finding mission following the lingering crisis in the institution.

Fact finding mission or not, the onus is on the two brother states to find a lasting solution to this macabre dance. If lasting solution can’t be found ,a caretaker committee or a private hand should be sourced to managed the university. This caretaker committee would report the activities and earning of the university to the Osun and Oyo state government . Another option been proposed by the education stakeholders is that, both states should find a way to sell the university or at least the one with lesser stake should sell off their stakes to a state that have a higher stakes. Failure to follow these simple steps would see education suffer in the states as a result of this tussle. Nigeria can’t afford to lose their youths quest for education on trivial matters such as ownership tussle .
