Another Lawmaker Suspended For 180 Legislative Days by amzee(m): 7:01am On Oct 07, 2016 |
Gboyega Aribisogan, a lawmaker representing Ikole 1 in Ekiti state has been suspended for 180 legislative days for alleged anti-party activities. Aribisogan has been accused of working against Fayose’s government with other subversive elements in the PDP and outside of the party – Aribisogan has denied the allegations but the assembly has maintained that he was involved in anti-party activities Governor Ayodele Fayose. Just days after the House of Representatives suspended Kano lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin, another lawmaker has also received the same treatment in Ekiti state. Punch reports that Ekiti state house of assembly on Thursday, October 6 suspended Gboyega Aribisogan, a lawmaker representing Ikole 1, for 180 legislative days for alleged anti-party activities. Aribisogan, the Chairman, House Committee on Information in the assembly had been accused of ganging up with those opposed to Governor Ayodele Fayose within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and beyond to derail his administration. Although he had denied the allegations on several occasions, the state assembly has found him guilty. “Let me put on record here that except the time I accompanied Governor Fayose to visit Buruji in 2014 and recently when I met him in company of the governor, I never had any personal dealing with him. “For Falana and Ojudu, I have been a major critic of their roles in Ekiti project and they can never in their wildest imaginations invite me to any clandestine meeting and they are all alive to corroborate or deny the claims. “I am a steadfast and major critical stakeholder in Fayose’s emergence as Governor of Ekiti right from the primaries to the governmental level. I have repeatedly spoken about by absolute belief and commitment in the government of Fayose and its policies, even at most difficult times and I can’t be a sellout at this time when the battle is presumed to have been won. “On the other side, a particular lawmaker in the house was plotting to undermine Ikole constituency in the 2019 elections and he was behind the gossip , blackmail and intrigues in the House to cause a serious rift between me and Mr Governor. “I hereby want to reiterate and reaffirm my commitment and loyalty to his excellency, Governor Fayose and the government of Ekiti State,” Aribisogan said in his defence at a press conference on Friday, October 1. Meanwhile, Governor Ayo Fayose has been deprived of possibility of using the two private accounts of in Zenith Bank till November 7. Recall that the governor is suing the EFCC for blocking his accounts since June. The anti- graft agency has brought Fayose before a court on fraud charges.
