The Everton striker was caught up in an astonishing situation in Ecuador as he apparently orchestrated his own substitution and exit from the stadium in order to avoid arrest

Enner Valencia made a remarkable getaway from police in an ambulance after apparently faking an injury during Ecuador's victory over Chile on Thursday.

The striker, who is currently on loan at Everton from West Ham, was confronted by officers when he arrived at the stadium in Quito over unpaid child maintenance bills.

After evading arrest on that occasion, Valencia then started for Ecuador before orchestrating his own escape by being substituted and exiting the stadium in an ambulance.

That resulted in quite incredible scenes at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa as police pursued Valencia, who was being transported to the ambulance in a golf cart, on foot.
