The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III has reacted to claims that President Muhammadu Buhari has effected plans to islamise the country, using attacks by Fulani herdsmen as strategy. Recall a group referred to as the Igbo Leaders of Thought recently accused the Buhari administration of allowing Fulani herdsmen to kill Nigerians as a result of his alleged pursuit to islamise the country. The Sultan said he was worried that folks who were said to be elder state men may make such provocative comments. He stated this on Monday at the opening ceremony of a two-day Annual Pan-Northern Groups Summit on Security, Socio-economic and political development in Kaduna state. He explained, “I'm always worried when Nigerians who are allowed to be elder statesmen make provocative comments relating to this government trying to Islamise Nigeria.

Those so-called herdsmen and their wicked activities should by all men of goodwill, including you O King, head of the Caliphate.
