BIAFRANS in Enugu showed a laissez-faire attitude toward the Sit-at- Home protest call by Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB on Friday.

In a tour around Enugu metropolis concerning the sit-at-home order and protest Vanguard discovered that the so-called Biafrans went about their normal activities against the order especially those at New market, Enugu.
A trader Eze.H Ndidiamaka who sells foot wears in new market said he only left home because it was not announced that he should not go to work. ” I heard about today’s protest through rumors. Our leader in this market did not announce that we should not come to market today. If he did you would not see me here. I am in support of biafra” he assured.

In her opinion, Mrs Owunna, a soya milk seller expressed that Biafra wants to stand out just as Nigeria stood out from Britain. “Biafra is not just one person. They are just like someone in his master’s house. After sometime, he would seek freedom to be his own person and establish himself. Biafrans want to stand out just as Nigeria stood out from Britain” she promised.

Another trader Chinemerem Anichukwu who sells drugs at the market owed up that it was because of the condition of things that he left his home. ” I am a real Biafran. Its not that I did not hear it, because I did. It is just because there is nothing the children will eat that hence I came here today. I told my people that they should not go out, let me go and find something that they will eat. I’m not even happy as I am here. I heard about this protest since Thursday. In order to show my support for Biafra, I had to open my shop late” he explained.

A provision seller, Mrs Leticia Onyena revealed that ethnicity is a problem Nigeria as a nation has. ” This country needs to be divided. No one man can rule us. Ethnicity is too much. Igbos should be set free to find their God’s given wealth and utilize it. If we keep quiet, there’s no way we can get Biafra” she said.

[b]However, a political scientist Remigius Ogini, told vanguard that he does not think Biafra will gain the freedom they seek because they lack the necessary arsenal. ” I am not in support of Biafra at all. Two days ago, I saw a pamphlet that Biafrans are observing a fasting and prayer for their leader Nnamdi Kanu. I believe in one Nigeria. If Nigeria is disintegrated, its going to cause war and even our fore fathers like Odumegwu Ojukwu and the rest who fought for Biafra acknowledged that they made a mistake. The mistake being that they went for a war without having the necessary arsenal. The result of that war is still telling on us till today. Biafra is just a divided house. You are fighting for freedom, yet you have different units like IPOB, MASSOB, and there’s also another one mapped out. It is just a house against itself. They say they want one thing, but their interests are different. Igbos are talking about Biafra whereas it still comprises of other entities from the south-south. Even Niger Delta people are also Biafrans. So, ethnicity still continues. Running away from Nigeria will not solve the problem. What they need is unity” he maintained.[/b]

There isn't much to reply. The important thing is not what the minority want, but what the majority want. The 'sit an home' recorded over 65% compliance. That's a clear landslide. A referendum would record an even much bigger landslide.
