With our hotel management door lock. You can set time frame of use. Useful for: Let's say a guest has paid for a night and is due to checkout the next day at 1pm. Even if he manage to evade the front desk personnel after check out, his card wouldnt work and he has to renew and pay for another night at reception.

User Management (Permissions): Housekeeping can only open the doors for certain hours and for bigger hotels, only floor managers and above has the right to open guest room doors. Also, every door opening is registered into the system (the memory in the door slot) and in case of missing objects, we can call up the timestamp and reconfirm with CCTV.

Prevent Key duplication. No doubt RFIDs can be hacked, however, with a physical key, a visit to a nearby key duplicating service will get you the key for the room.

Power management. Newer systems which only allows the specific room key to power that said room can save electricity. ( note that older systems may still be activated by any random card)
Economics: replacement cost of a key card or an RFID bracelet is less than the cost of a lost metal key. With a lost metal key, you have to assume that the room's privacy is compromised. That means a new lock for every loss.

Security: see above, in part. Think of keys as analog and key cards as making the jump to digital.

Image: using metal keys brands the property as unwilling to innovate or spend. This has the potential to hurt guest spending while on property.

With a traditional key, you have no idea what happened, or how.

With an electronic key, you know exactly what happened, when, who, where, and how.

Period.
In short, like any other technological innovation, going to key cards or to RFID is expensive in the short term with a payback over time. You may find that at 20 rooms, the payback horizon is unreasonably long.
Metal keys are expensive to replace. Metal key systems do not allow for an electronic audit trail of when the door has been opened to be recorded. Metal keys look old fashioned, which may not suit the image the hotel wants to portray.
I would also add that metal keys make the check-out process more complex, as you need to be certain that each guest has returned their room key. It can be quite stressful when a guest fails to return a metal room key after checking out or if the guest loses their key. If a key is lost, you not only have to replace they key, you should replace the whole lock. As RFID cards are only enabled for a particular room and particular period of time, it does not matter if the guest fails to return the RFID card or loses the card, as it will not work after the guest stay period has ended and you will have plenty of spare RFID cards. It also makes it easier for guests to perform an express check out, for example by simply dropping their RFID card into a box at reception.
