House Committee Members Openly Beg Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority For Inclusion In Staff Training
BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORK OCT 12, 2016
It was a show of shame today at the headquarters of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos as some members of the House Committee on Aviation openly canvassed for their inclusion in the training of the agency’s staff.

The committee, led by its Chairman, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, had visited the agency and some other parastatals in the industry as part of their oversight functions, but during discussions with the Director-General of NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, a member of the committee said that it would be necessary for the agency to also include them in the training of its personnel, which it carries out abroad regularly.

A member of the committee, Garba Mohammed Gololo from Bauchi made the appeal to Usman on behalf of other committee members, suggesting that their inclusion would enable them to know the nitty-gritty of the industry. Gololo was one of the house of reps members accusing of soliciting for sex during a visit to the US.

Immediately he dropped the microphone, a colleague of his in the committee, Victor Nwokolo, provided support, saying that at least two members of the committee should be selected in the first phase of the training.

At the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Ms. Onyejeocha also implored the management of the agency to incorporate some of its members in training in order to further improve their knowledge of the industry.

She said, “I think it is necessary for some of the committee’s members to be part of the NAMA’s training so that we can get the terminologies in the industry. There are some things you are saying now that we can’t understand.”

Meanwhile, the Director-General of NCAA, Usman has called on the Federal Government to grant aviation a priority in terms of sourcing foreign exchange.

He explained that one of the major challenges facing the industry was the issue of foreign exchange and non-availability of aviation fuel.

Usman recalled that the scarcity of the product had made some of the airlines, including foreign carriers, to move to Ghana to purchase fuel while some of them have pull out of Nigeria completely.

“Aviation industry should be given priority by the government,” he said. “This is very important to us to continue to maintain safety in the sector. The major thing is safety and we will continue to maintain safety in the system.”

Usman also disclosed that the Federal Government through the Central Bank, has released to the foreign carriers 50 per cent of their funds trapped in the country and assured that the issue will be resolved very soon.

The negative effect of square pegs in round holes.
The committees should be setup with members that have knowledge of their portfolios.

If lawmakers and reps take the slot of the technocrats, how will there be advancement in the agency?

Our Abuja sitters are openly showing us their shallowness.

Leeches who want to be spoon-fed all the time, and till eternity. Very greedy and corrupt lots,if not because of separation of powers, all these guys deserve a visit from the Daura Secret Service to restore their brains to default settings which, and it will save us all these embarrassment! They revel in corruption which they ought to be fighting against. It has become a way of life and a part of them, so extra measures must be taken as well to purge them of these ills............

Now you see this. When these thieving bandits wanna get their scruffy fingers into the cookie jar, they do so with absolutely no care for their ethnic, regional or religious identities- their unity is NEVER in doubt!

But when it comes to choosing our leaders, they waste no time in reminding us how Usman should never be seen on the same planet with Emeka or how a Christian is seen by all Muslims as arne for which reason we must never have anything to do with them, or how the Northerners want all Southerners dead and vice versa!!

This is the reason my signature says what it says. There are some people particularly fond of doing this in this country. Everything that happens to any one of them, they claim is for reason of their tribe!!

One of theirs is questioned for tax evasion, they claim it is because of her tribe.

The other is sacked and replaced just as every other person, they claim it was because of her tribe.

One was being tried in court just like his boss, he dons their native attire to appeal to their emotions, they fell flat for it and claimed he was being tried because of his tribe!!!

Couple of days ago, someone was arrested for taking bribes and having huge amounts of cash in hard currency at home and they claimed he was arrested because he granted judgement in favour of their tribe!!

Etc.

May the curse of a thousand years befall all those who keep taking advantage of our religious or ethnic diversity to promote their selfish political ideologies. angry

Imagine them even shamelessly admitting they are clueless about the industry just because they want in on the "training allowee". They must have lobbied for inclusion in the committee because, as they call it, it is a "juicy" committee, yet they know NOTHING about how those guys operate!

Trust me, if these guys are not given what they want, the next headline we'd be reading tomorrow is about the HoR commencing a probe on those agencies!

We are in real trouble in this country. You now see why they had to get rid of the whistle blower Jubril.

I weep for Nigeria.
