Cancer Awareness Month, Kindly Raise Your Voice Not Your Bra (nobraday) by morganstones(m): 9:57am On Oct 14, 2016
I woke up early this morning dreading to go on social media, obviously not because of Apollo nor boil. Rather my fear is being orchestrated by the likely visual assaults innocent hearted men like me will face from teeming Nigerian ladies who would ditch their bra's today. For those who might be wondering when and where did this business of Nigerian ladies throwing away their most treasure 'Cosset' every 14th Of October. Just like many who take delight in joining the bandwagon of wearing red on red every February 14th (with most teenage girls looking like poorly kitted masquerade) without understanding the origin of Valentine's day. Similarly, chunk load of people misunderstand the basic idea of 'Cancer Awareness Month'. Every October people world over try as much as possible to raise global concern regarding cancer diseases. Since breast cancer is one of the most commonest cancer disease afflicting women across the world, with surgically removing the affected part as a likely survival tactics. Hence, the start of NoBraDay to show solidarity for breast cancer survivals. At the very inception this was indeed a noble gestures, but over the years Nigerian ladies have began to misrepresent this gesture to mean an opportunity to display various shades, sizes and shapes of pneumatic mammalian gland on social media(To much grammar to describe 'Breast').
We must learn to recognise the fact that there is an apparent need to raise concern about this painful scourge through sensitization and self breast examination. So for the matured minds rather than pulling off your bra today you can do the following.
*Carry out a personal breast self examination
*Visit the hospital for HPV test
*Decide to begin to eat healthy meals garnished with enough fruits and vegetables
*Once you discover an usual lump don't panic kindly visit your doctor
*Ditch your can foods for natural ones
Although it is in our habit to join trending event around. Certainly our choice is understandable but sincerely we must be matured enough to clothes ourselves when dancing happily within the market square.
