Why do Nigerians call chocolate drinks (hot cocoa, hot chocolate, malted chocolate, chocolate milk) tea? Why all brands and types of tea are called Lipton’s?
Re: Milo = Tea? by SeanT21(f): 5:56pm On Oct 21, 2009

It's a nigerian thing.

For example every type of noodle is called Indomie.

i'd suppose the keywork there is mashai.
mashai - a hausa man that sells bread, fried eggs (the way u want it), noddles and non-alcoholic beverage drinks (milo/bournvita): popularly erroneously called tea.

mashais are usually found on school campuses and most suburbs of Lagos. hope dis is useful info! smiley wink
