Qualcomm disclosed X50 5G modem at 2016 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong. It’s the company first 5G modem which will help usher in a new generation of cellular services. The 5G modem supports download speeds of up to 5Gbps which is 5x faster than the fastest 4G modem. Am just imaging browsing through every page on the web with just a click and no waiting.

With most developed markets having already upgraded to 4G LTE, Qualcomm is making a large push towards 5G mobile broadband. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 is designed for multi-mode 4G/5G mobile broadband as well as fixed wireless broadband. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 5G modem can be paired with any Snapdragon processor having integrated Gigabit LTE modem.

In addition to supporting 4G LTE and mmWave 5G, the complete 4G/5G multi-mode platform is designed to help provide dual-connectivity to both (so a mobile device can connect simultaneously over both generations of technology) to achieve seamless mobility between the two.
