The family and friends of the demoted Major General Falola, former director of 68 Army Reference Hospital, Yaba continue to insist that his demotion is purely a conspiracy to get him out of the way and ensure he never become the commandant of the medical corps. The general whose service record as read by the army secretary during his trial seems impeccable is being alleged to be a victim of power play by those who saw him as a threat to their attaining the exalted position. Since his conviction many people who know him have kept insisting that such a honest, hard-working and highly intelligent officer should not be a subject of such an ignominious demotion. Many including his former classmates attest to the fact that he is a brilliant man with high moral standard. He has demonstrated this in many way he served both the army and his country in the capacity of the chairman, Ophthalmology Society of Nigeria (OSN). If the records are true, can such a man really be convicted of crime accused of, or is he truly a victim of power play as being alleged? In the meantime, his lawyer Wing Commander Enokela Anebi Onyilo-Uloko has filed an appeal seeking the higher court to invalidate the sentence the court martial earlier passed.
His argument is that his client committed no crime as their is no law stipulating he should get the kind of directive he was alleged not to have sought. Secondly he alleged that it has been a standard practice for students to be admitted from the school before he became a director at the hospital and the officer in question did nothing new. Thirdly he explained that alleged students are Nigerians studying outside the country and not foreigners as Nigerians being made to believe by the army court.

Has the Chief of Army Staff assented to the verdict of the tribunal? If no, then he can still plead his case before the Army council. Military matters are difficult to delve into; but if truly he did nothing wrong, he should either write to the COAS or resign from the Army. The nation stands to lose a lot from his resignation if truly his records are as glistening as they are presented above.

My brother what baffles me is that the army secretary was said to have read that confidential record at the trial. In spite of that the court still gave the judgement, saying it is pending until ratify by the army council and that the man can appeal if not satisfied. The man from that news has gone for appeal. Maybe he doesn't trust the army anymore. In power play, those up can be involved if it is truly a conspiracy.
