THE Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, have called on policy makers to focus on issues that led Nigeria to economic recession with a view to tackling the problem. They also listed conditions necessary to exit recession and avoid future chaos.

They spoke in Lagos during The Point Newspaper’s Public Presentation and First Annual Conference on Economic Regeneration, weekend.

Sanusi, who was the Special Guest of Honour, blamed the current economic recession on decades of policy failures, which had become a clog in the wheel of Nigeria’s economic development.

He said this just as Saraki and Aregbesola cautioned Nigerians against over-dependence on foreign products at the expense of locally made goods.

The Emir noted: “We have had decades of policy failure. The last decade was Africa’s miracle decade because we moved from a continent that was known for hunger and war to a decade where people were seen as a land of opportunities and investments.”

Sanusi, therefore, advised the Federal Government to take a decisive step on the type of economy it would want to run.

Have Osun recovered from Osun recession. Aregbesola should use that condition in Osun first, if its works. Then Buhari can adopt it

A Joke right? Saraki is more qualified than SLS and Aregbesola put together to speak on recession as a topic.

So true. Most local industries a glorified packaging plants. They just bag 90% finished products and call it local.

The same ambiguous advice... State clearly looking at the data fg is releasing what we should do.. It very simple

My advice is state owned farms managed with the LNG arrangements to produce sugar, golden long grain rice, wheat( white and golden), soybean, sorghum, white corn, beans and fishing trollers. .. with 200bn naira we can set up this.. With states providing lands and getting 13% extra . ...If we can cultivate 5 to 10 million hectares... We can create 5 to 10 million jobs instantly directly and reduce pressure on our dollaes by over $20 bn all in one year.... when Nigeria recovers we can sale the shares of this farms to all Nigerians

Give us clear cut advice not this things..
Who doesn't know thats if we have 50000mw, good infrastructure the economy will grow.. The question is how do we get out of this recession
