A sharp division has appeared among members of a pro-Buhari group, National Support Groups for Good Governance(NASUGG), over the rally the group organised in Abuja last Tuesday.

The group claims to be an amalgamation of different support groups with about 70 million members nationwide.

But some of its members have described as insensitive the rally ostensibly held to support the anti-corruption campaign of the government.
It was seen by some dissenting members of the group as a ploy to shore up the image of the Buhari administration, especially at a time the government is being bashed from all corners on the handling of the economy and what some say is dictatorial tendency.

A leader of one of the dissenting groups told The AUTHORITY on Sunday that it was inappropriate to organise a rally for the support of the government at this this particular time.

“The era of use and dump is over. They made promises to us before the election, but after the victory, we have been forgotten. Now they need us to back them now that there is crisis everywhere.

“The economy is in a very bad shape, is this what we promised the people during the electioneering period? There is hunger everywhere. Some of us are not in support of the rally.

“Let the government solve the problems on ground and stop mobilizing people to organize solidarity rally.

“They have attacked judges, because the reactions are not what they wanted, they want us to mobilise people to rally support for the government. It is better for every NGO on its own to analyse events in the country and react appropriately,” he said.

At a press briefing preceding the rally, the National Coordinator of NASUGG, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, denied any division within the group, saying the group comprises like-minds that have come together to support the fight against corruption.

He had said the group was neutral and in support of government’s war against corruption and urged the government to go ahead and prosecute any of the judges found guilty of corrupt enrichment.

At the rally on Tuesday, spokesperson of NASUGG, Comrade Abdulwaheed Ekakhide, had said the groups will take the anti-corruption campaign all corners of the country.

“Let’s take the fight against corruption to all Nigerians because it is a fight for all Nigerians and not for the legislature, the executive or the judiciary alone.

“It is a fight for all of us even the president should not be above the law. The senate president, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chief Justice Etc are under the law”, he stated.

This Rally is 666 and therefore CORRUPT. It can come when Recession is over and Naira:Dollar is 150:1. Otherwise, the Rally becomes an Abomination similar in Content and Intent to the one million March for Late Abacha.

Useless people, no find work and keep roaming Abuja hoping to get paid by government. What kind of support rally is held in the middle of a tenure?

“Let the government solve the problems on ground and stop mobilizing people to organize solidarity rally.

A performing government does not need any pro government rally to show what they've achieved so far...

Any rally at this present time is an attempt to shore up the image of the government, there is hunger in the land and nothing seems to be working...

I wonder why some set of nigerians will choose this period for a pro buhari rally...SMH

Did I hear them say 70million What was the total vote PMB got during election, I guess this is an attempt at cracking an expensive joke...cheesy grin cheesy
