It seems Erastus Akingbola, formerly the CEO of Intercontinental Bank has won an important preliminary objection by lawyers for Lamido Sanusi of the CBN. Read for yourselves, make your own conclusions, and give us your input.

Akingbola: CBN To Argue Objections 1 December
October 26, 2009 14:55 (7 hours ago), 179 views

By Akin Kuponiyi

Temporary relief came the way of former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, as a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos this morning ruled that the preliminary objection filed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) against the application filed by the former bank boss to receive the decision of the apex court in respect of banking reforms be taken together.

The ruling by the court was sequel to the application filed before the court by Akingbola urging it to review the CBN Report leading to his sack.

However, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) filed a preliminary objection.  Its counsel argued that the objection should be heard first while Akingbola’s lawyer, Chief Felix Fagbohungbe, SAN, argued that the two applications should be taken together.

In his ruling this morning, presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Auta said that the two applications should be argued together and adjourned the matter till 1 December this year for further hearing.

Akingbola shouldn't hv left the country indeed.
If he was in the country, he would hv been under incaseration and therefore cannot file this application @this time.
He would 1st be looking 4freedom.

Is this an advantage for his being away?

Definitely.

If being away from Nigeria's corrupt political, banking, and judicial system is an advantage, what does that tell you?

Woow! Thast is a big one for Akingbola.
His decision to flee the country was the wisest thing to do.

My understanding of this ruling is that he would be able to combine CBN assessment/audit, which apperently cleared his bank with later statements made by Sanusi as the reason for sacking them.

Yes.
But I think Akingbola is fighting back 'cos of all the CEO's dismissed by Sanusi, he lost the greatest.
Re: Cbn Sanusi Vs. Bank Ceos: Akingbola-1, Sanusi-0 by naijaking1: 2:19am On Oct 27, 2009
How do you know who lost the greatest without asking all of them. None of them should have lost the way they did, it's as if there was a war and Sanusi won. I can see Sanusi's personal hatred and jealousy for these hard working people. Since when has it become a crime to be rich?

Being rich @the expense of ur depositors' and shareholders' funds is a crime.

I agree 100%, but you have to show, prove, and convict anybody before you go to town telling everybody they're criminals who deserve to be shot, especially when you occupy an important office such as the governor of CBN.

Sanusi is just trying to avert or delay the judgement. telling the court to refrain or dismis the case.
if he knows that he has case, he should allow the judges to do their work. he should have even wished the judgement is deliver without waisting time.
, if his hands and mind are clean,
, and he knows that he has done the right thing.

God help us

Public campaign against the CEOs is really bad. It's against court protocols, standard rules of court proceedings, and even an attempt to poison the atmosphere.
