Continuing to reflect on what is turning into a pretty decent run of form, Gary Cahill had a few thoughts he shared with the media following the 2-0 win against Southampton.

The centre-back might not have gotten on the score-sheet like he had done in the two previous games but as part of the new-look back-three, which is now our preferred method of playing, he did his part in ensuring Southampton were kept at bay and Thibaut Courtois had only one attempt on goal to keep out.

Talking about another fine performance, Cahill had this to say,

'Southampton's record at home is very good - we knew that. But we knew if we carried on our form, we`d cause them problems. We worked hard.

'Four wins in the league now, four clean sheets - we keep going.

'We need those types of attacking star players who can turn the game in a moment. It`s a pleasure to have these guys in the side.

'It`s too early in terms of any team talking about winning the league but it`s important to stay near the top.

'We want to be up and among it. I can`t see anyone running away with it this season.'

And neither can we, but if Chelsea keep plugging away we could certainly be there or thereabouts come next May!
