If wages are increased, it will increase the budget deficit especially if the size of the civil service is not heavily pruned.

Expect a spike in inflation and a further depreciation of the currency .

Which would you prefer?

1. Salary remains same while inflation grows. Or
2. Salary is increased from minimum wage of N18k to something like N30k?

Btw, how did you arrive at 15% increase?

It's even disturbing to see illiterates "liking" your nonsense post. It clearly shows the type of people we have here. undecided
Although the percentage might not be correct but he's saying the truth. Increasing wages now would create room for inflation . in fact the basic economics comes into place here. It would have being better they pump the money into other sectors that would increase the welfare of Nigerians than this. Workers would always agitate for more wages even if the government increase it.Don't be surprised that by 2017, same workers that their wages were increased would still complain that it's not enough.

This is not just feasible! You don't write to national assembly to approve a $30billion loan and also harbor the plans to increase workers' salary. IMF or World Bank would not even agree to lend you that sef without sacrificing

my sister, just leave this lying govt. They don see mumu catch na to dey feed them with lies every now and then. lol

Lol.... answer my question oga, I no ask you story.... I am not against the increment, but how many can pay it in this recession?
Hypocritical of you. You wanted Labour to fight govt for more wages and now that the govt is planning to do something, you guys are shamelessly opposing it. Tufiakwa!

Just to help you, the states will definitely have to cut down on wastages and improve their internal revenue generating capacity to cope with increase in workers wages. They need it.

On the long run, it's either the Naira appreciates, or you increase wages -- but how and where do you get the funds to pay those wages?

Interesting news, if true.

Government institutions whose staffs, there salaries are always delayed due to funds.
Each month, the salaries are delayed.
Now, they pass info around of salary increase?
Funny.

SamuelAnyawu:
15% increment on salaries, While recession/inflation rises up to 65% ....

Perfect Economics
15% increment!!! How did you get that? And mind you, increase in wage also means increase in investment, and not just increase in expenditure as you presumed. Increase in investment means increase in production, more employment opportunities and decrease in inflation.

Do you understand now

ultimately, that's what hate does to people. It makes them confused, bitter and sad all the times. The same guys that demanded for wage increase are the same lot complaining now that the govt are proposing an increase.
They are just a confused lot, and sane people shouldn't be taking them seriously
