I could remember the SURE-P programme they organized then. They said it's for the young graduate who are just leaving school, but with surprise we found out the programme was organized for their friends and family only...... 1 Like |

This 5k per head intervention or whatever is a white elephant project and completely unsustainable! The FG cannot be lookin for loan and then fritter away half a trillion naira on a hare brained venture that will yield no return and still be subject to massive fraud! It is true they made this a campaign promise (a very stupid thing to do) which worked and swayed some hungry and uninformed Nigerians into voting for them but it is best to bite the bullet, confess their stupidity and deploy those funds into sustainable and profit yielding projects that will empower those targeted persons independent of monthly government peanut stipends. Yes, Nigerians will rake them over hot coals, they may lose a little political hero worship and probably make seemingly negative news for a while but they must be prepared with a visible and viable alternative that can turn the narrative and outlive their tenure. They have also gained notoriety for breaking all promises anyway so at least it won't be new and they can ride out the backlash the way they've been doing primarily by publicising some high profile corruption based arrest. It will be best to drop this now cos the fact that they're ruling out online application implies that the cash will be handed out in its raw form because if they really target the most underprivileged and poor in the societies, more than half are uneducated and under banked so there's no use of BVN to verify anyone. Unless they're prepared to go around, identify the target recipients and make sure they all have accounts with Micro finance or regular Commercial banks so that money us disbursed from a central source created for the purpose, the distribution of funds will fail because of greedy thieves in the system.(This is where using technology to fight corruption comes in by keeping the 'yam' out of the reach of thieves in the first place-Transformation tinz but story for another day-and creating a clear n trackable process). The presence of raw cash for distribution will also attract and occasion spates of robbery probably planned with insiders. It is best for then to swallow their pride and prevent future loss even though I fear they may even be unable to provide and follow through with any viable project when common blue print for economic plan has proved a herculean task and MTEF for 2017 budget is 'empty'! 4 Likes 2 Shares |

This project should be in the dustbin by now due to the hullabaloos about it every month in the media without any tangible result. They will have to blame the past administration and try to remind us about them which is plain childish and stupid coming from a supposed man of God that should be showing us a way forward. Fix our roads, Fix Electricity and see if things won't get better for the masses. The major cost in food price is transportation and we know that we will never see any reasonable reduction in the cost of PMS anytime soon unless Nigeria is disintegrated. There is no going back on prices in a Nigeria like this.... bad people |
