he compulsory prayers introduced by Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State for staff of the Government House in Jalingo last year has recorded some casualties as the governor yesterday ordered the suspension of three workers for failing to attend the prayers for a period of time in spite of repeated warnings.

Those affected are two female journalists attached to the Government House press crew, Deborah Jonathan of the state owned television outfit and Hilda Adebayo of the state radio. The third victim is the personal assistant to the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security, Ahmed Ben, whom the governor ordered to be transferred out of the Government House for the same reason.

Suntai was said to have handed down the directive during the compulsory morning prayer session for Christians at the Government House Praise Chapel after going through the attendance registrar.

Why dis obeying if that is in the curriculum of the working code?
I am not suggesting the law is the best or not, rather concern about the "disobedience"

Deluded muderfuckers.Illusions in the face of reality and people wonder why we are backward.

We are not getting it,we need to pray to ourselves for our existence,we are the gods, the devils, the angels, the demons, what we are is just our subjective imaginations, nothing is certain but consciousness.

Religion is one huge determining factor in Nigeria's unity and to be specific the underlying relationship between the south and the north. By the grace of God we will find and develop points of mutual understanding. Sharia should not be a state wide law in any part of Nigeria. The christians have no alternative laws and seems like a direct opposite to sharia law. May God, touch the hearts of the hardline religious nigerian northerners for them to understand that Nigeria will not be governed like saudi arabia or like anyother third world middle eastern nation. They are little things to be learned from every nation, hopefully as a team of different faiths in Nigeria, when studying such programs, we can stick to the best of intentions.

There's clearly no shortage of religious bigots on both sides.

3 times a day during the working day, pray, for how long each time?

Religion is poisoning the Taraba State government; this time, it is the Christian type.

Morons.

Nigerians are just extreme with everything. is prayer meeting by force now?? according to which constitution or code? the stupid thing is if the workers decide to sue, the judicial system is just messed up and it will take years to rule on the case. why do we like to impose ourselves on others in this country?? its annoying angry
Re: Gov Suspends Workers Over Compulsory Prayers by MUZBO(m): 1:31pm On Nov 01, 2009

This governor is trying to set up the people. While they'll be closing their eyes, kneeling down & up and praying; he would be standing up and running with their money to the bank.
