The day Mr Peter Obi the former governor of Anambra State was swearing in his successor, Mr Willie Obiano, the press asked him if he still has the intention of enlongating his tenure if the constitution permits? He responded diplomatically that nothing lasts forever and it is ideal for one to start making haste while the sun shines.
By this statement I realized that anyone at a particular seat of governance tends to think it will last forever, but alas, it doesnt. Oshimole, Obasanjo to name our few politicians at a stage will want to come back to rule if the constitution accomodates them.
You are the president, governor, local govenment chairman, president general of a town etc today, tomorrow another person will be on that seat while you still regret and wish to come back. Do those things you will want to come back for, now is the only available time.
Four years is not forever (4ever), eight years is not also eternity (8ernity). Nothing lasts forever if not our legacies, think twice.
