The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, has prohibited unlawful mining and extraction of solid minerals in the state. According to the report at the disposal of Tectono Business Review, the prohibition was made known by the governor while receiving a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in Awka, the state capital, a few days ago.

According to the governor, who was a member of the board of directors of Fidelity Bank Plc, his administration was dedicated to blocking all leakages in the revenue collection process in the state. In order to ensure proper documentation and monitoring of activities of all licensed miners, he instructed them to work with the state Ministry of Science and Technology.

In his speech, the head of the delegation, Dr. Casmir Anyanwu, stated that the essence of the visit was to sensitize state governments on the need to adopt solid minerals as a viable option to sustain the country’s economy, adding that over 40 mineral resources had been identified across the 774 local councils in the country

Yes, they are supposed to obtain license before even embarking on the business of mining. Some Nigerians like shortchanging the government.

How did you know that the agencies charge N300,000? It should be far lower than that.
