Private Lawal Musa, a soldier attached to the Nigerian Army’s "Operation Delta Safe" in Calabar, has been kidnapped.
SaharaReporters learned that Musa was abducted by unknown persons on November 9, on his way to First Bank on Calabar Way in the city at about 9:30a.m.
The soldier is a member of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Boat Company at the 222 Battalion in Cross Rivers State.
A source in Army Headquarters said Private Musa took permission from the Commanding Officer to go to the bank but the CO became apprehensive after the soldier failed to return to the barracks. His phone had also been switched off for some time.
Persistent calls to his phone later yielded a response from one of his abductors who simply said, "Your guy is with us".
The army source did not disclose whether the kidnappers have demanded a ransom. The police and the Department of State Security are searching for the kidnapped soldier.
