The presidency has disclosed that the selected 200,000 graduates for the federal government’s N-Power programme will resume work on December 1, 2016.

This disclosure was made on Sunday in a series of tweets.

On Saturday, Mr Laolu Akande, who is the spokesman to the Vice President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, had revealed that the successful applicants would be notified very soon.

The 200,000 graduates selected for the jobs would be employed as teachers, agriculture and health workers, the presidency confirmed.

It was learnt that they were chosen about two weeks ago and their names have now been sent to state governments and Abuja for deployment to specific assignments.

However, their names would be published this week on the N-Power portal, the presidency noted, but notification text messages will also be sent to them from Monday, November 21 (tomorrow).

“In total, @npower_ng will engage and train 500,000 young unemployed graduates. It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration.

“The 500,000 @npower_ng beneficiaries will be expected to exit after two years to economically viable job and business opportunities.

“Participants will be provided teaching, instructional and advisory solutions in the focus areas, and paid a monthly stipend of N30,000.

“The 4 main focus areas are in basic education, agriculture extension services, public health & community education (civic & adult education).

“Besides the @npower_ng programme for graduates, there are other schemes for non-graduates: N-Power Knowledge & N-Power Build,” the Presidency stated in the tweets on Sunday.
